Makeup for brides who don't wear makeup

T, on June 12, 2012 at 4:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

For ladies that are doing their own makeup, what kind of makeup are you wearing for your big day? Got any looks in mind that are easy to do?

I never wear make up so I don't know what brands or colors to get. Or how to put it on lol.

You could go to a store like Macy's, and have one of the women there do your makeup for you as a trial run.. they explain what they're using and what they're doing, so you can repeat the process on your own with the products that they used Smiley smile i love playing with eye make up and lip gloss, but when it comes to foundation/concealer/powder etc. i'm soo lost... lol

Normally they expect you to buy at least one thing. Most people go for the lipstick.

I dont normally wear make up, except for special occasions. My friend is doing my make up. I actually went into sephora and asked a million questions about how to get a natural, bridal look, and they showed me all kinds of products and even did a trial so I could see what the colors would look like. Idk if you have a sephora newar you, but THey are amazing!

I think you should discuss this with your makeup person so she is aware and knows that you want more of a light makeup and natural look. Or maybe you can try bareminerals makeup, a foam makeup.

Try this eye look simple and classic and don't need a lot of stuff. Just make sure you have a good foundation as well but go to your closest make up counter and get what you need

I would suggest looking on youtube, there's some amazing videos about how to do foundation/eyeshadow, everything! I did my own makeup for my e-pics (You can see either in my avatar, or more detail in my profile), and everyone thought it looked really good! You can do it!

So I thought about going sans make up, but everyone vetoed it. Apparently you have to the right look or you won't look good in the photos. o.O

Well, since I have 0 idea, I am having mine done professionally. I'm doing two make up trials just to make sure I get the right look.

As for what you should pick, neutral is never wrong. I agree with Jennifer that you don't need a lot.

I barely wear make up.. I went to Ulta a few days ago and got a 30 day trial set of bare minerals.. a red lip gloss and shimmery eye shadow.. They were super helpful as well in helping me find the colors I wanted nd matching my skin tone to the correct foundation thing..

My suggestion go have our makeup done at a department store and see what they use and how they apply it. I am also in the same boat so I have already done that and have been practicing my makeup application for a few weeks/months now.

I also found beauty broadcast and I really like watching her tips for products and application... she has a FB, Youtube, and blog.

Also, look thru magazines and tear out pages to show your artist the style of makeup you'd like. Your natural look maybe different from what they see as a natural look.

I'm going to wear Bare Minerals. I never wear makeup and I'm afraid if I had a MUA do it, they're cake it on and I wouldn't look like myself. I'd go to the mall and get your makeup done there to get an idea. Bare Minerals is nice because it's really easy to apply and they show you step-by-step how to put it on.

I used to sell cosmetics....and here's my BIGGEST piece of advice...

I would go to MAC, they are fairly reasonably priced. I would go with makeup that is very natural looking. As far as colors, depends on your eye color. Blue eyes stand out more while wearing browns or neutral tones, same with green eyes. Brown eyed gals can wear just about anything. Remember, on your BIG day you should go extra heavy on your eyes. You are going to be having your picture taken all day long and over time if your makeup isn't heavy enough you will look washed out.

As far as having your makeup done at the mall, MOST don't charge but will require you to purchase a min of 2 things. I would say waterproof mascara, and lip liner and lipstick. or skip the lip liner. Good luck!

I only wear mascara and eye shadow usually so me wearing the whole make up thing will be an experience as well. My hair stylist who is also my niece will be doing my make up and she is using bare minerals. We did a trial last month and I really liked the feel of it, it was not heavy or hot. I even went to the gym afterwards and it stayed on pretty well.

Defiantly consult your MUA if your having one about a light natural look with pastel colors on eyes and neutral on lip and best products that won't feel heavy on your face. I would defiantly go with some bare minerals make-up light weight and looks very natural on the skin.

You could also call your local Mary Kay (or Avon or ?) consultant and ask them to do a free color consultation for you - they come to you with a bunch of samples for you to try, and there isn't (or shouldn't be) any obligation to buy anything.

If you find things you like but they are too expensive, they usually have a way you can get a discount or free products (usually by hosting a party so they can demo their products) - just be sure to schedule the appointment enough ahead of time to order whichever look you like.

There is also a free Virtual Makeover on the Mary Kay website which is a fun way to play with different looks.

I didn't see anyone say this, but if someone did- my bad.

Be careful with what foundation you use. There is a certain chemical in many of them that reflects light when photographed so you will look super pale in all your pictures. I think it's titanium dioxide that is bad, but I know there was a Brides issue that said for sure- you might be able to find it on their web site.
