Makeup artist wants confirmation of all details Now?

Michelle, on October 3, 2019 at 8:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7
So I’m looking for a makeup artist and I find a lady through my future sister in law who did her makeup and she does good work. She won’t send me a contract or work with me until I give her an exact count of how many bridesmaids will have their makeup done by her.

I don’t think I’ve heard of this before to decide one year out when I wasn’t in wedding parties. I’ve always been asked at least two weeks out if I wanted to or not. I’m still waiting this weekend to even propose to my sister’s and cousins to be in my party. Is this typical?

Usually hair and makeup artists have a minimum. So mine told me they didn’t need an exact list of who is getting what until 6 weeks before the wedding but I had to guarantee 4 people would get makeup done and 4 would get hair done at the minimum.

My wedding is in July 2020. I booked my makeup artist about a month ago. I had to put a 50% deposit down for everyone that planned on getting makeup in order to reserve the date. I had a few girls that I asked to be in the wedding party and if they want makeup all at once.

Mine asked for a preliminary number so they could prepare to have how many ever artists they would need the day of. Mu HMUA had a price minimum (which between me my mom and sister covered, and we had 3 more ladies getting services). By the 30 day from the wedding mark we had to give an exact count and who wanted what services.

Oh ok. That makes me feel better. I’ll see who all is going to be in the party and who will get their makeup done and let them know they can’t cancel haha. I’ll confirm the MUA too, just in case my mom decides to have hers done, she’s wushu washy like that.

Mine had a minimum that they would travel for. I also had to put $175 down to reserve the date.
    Good luck!

Mine required a $100 deposit & minimum number of people, but I didn't finalize until 2 months out.
