Hi everyone! Smiley smile

For your engagement photos, did you do your own make-up or get it professionally done? Either by your make-up artist or went to a Sephora, MAC, etc. to get it done?

My MUA did my make up for my aunts wedding last year, I reached out to her (on short notice unfortunately) about this, but if she's not available, I'm open to doing my own just thought professionally would be nicer. What do you think?

I had my makeup done by my MUA because I wanted to see how the makeup would look in photos and I'm so glad I did because it gave me a preview of what to expect. I would say have your makeup done by your MUA who will be doing your makeup the day of the wedding so you can see how it photographs.

I did my own! I contemplated hiring a MUA, but decided to have a more natural look for my engagement photos then a more glam look With a MUA for the actual wedding. Best of both worlds!!

I’m getting a MUA because I only really know how to put on foundation and eyeshadow with some help from YouTube 😝 If you wanted to do your own, getting some practice in would be good. I considered getting a lesson from a professional MUA, but I’d rather just pay someone to do mine and my bridesmaids.

I did my hair and makeup myself because our engagement photo session was at sunrise.

For the engagement photos I guess it depends on you. Of course we would like our MUA that is doing our makeup for the big day but if its not an option going to MAC or Sephora to get it done is as professional as good as its going to get. I can to put basic make-up on (foundation, concealer and lips) but eye shadow, brows and highlighter is a big no so ill be doing to someone.

I used the makeup artist that I hired for my wedding. A trial is included in the bridal package, so I opted to get that done on the day of my engagement photos and I am 110% glad I did. I was also super confident in my MUA going in.

It was really nice to be able to see how the makeup would photograph, too.

Though I wear makeup everyday, I only do the basics and am not confident in my skill for professional photos. It was also really nice to be able to be pampered and relax!

I hired an amazing MUA for the wedding but I'll do my own for engagement pics. I'm a makeup junkie though and loving doing my makeup.

I got my hair and makeup done at a place that does makeup, blowouts, and other express beauty services. I wanted to look my best for the photos as I was really nervous getting them done. I haven't gotten back the photos yet, but I think it helped with my confidence!

I had a trial with my makeup artist the day of my engagement pictures. They pictures turned out great so I booked her for my wedding. I would recommend having it done professionally. It just looks much better in the high-def pictures you'll get back.

I can't do makeup correctly on a regular day, so for MY big day I will be having mine done professionally...MAC is my go to for all special occasions.

I did my own makeup for our photos to announce our engagement and I regret it, I feel I rushed to do my makeup and I looked so plain. If I was you I would say play with your makeup a few days before if you want to do it yourself or ask a close friend you trust or will listen to how you want it done, if you can't get into a place like Ulta. Maybe even reach out to a Mary Kay consult even thought I feel like they are always trying to sell you on products ( which I get it's their job 🙂)

I used my engagement photos as my trial for my wedding MUA. My photographers actually recommended professional makeup as they said it translates better with their high resolution cameras.

A good MUA will apply make-up so it does look natural. I’ve putting make-up on since I was a teen and I’m 60. I’ve thought about it and most likely I will pay to get lashes done. I’m not sure I’d like what someone else does nor on the day of if I want to spend time sitting waiting on someone to do it for me.

I did mine myself! I don't like spending more money than I have to since a wedding already costs so much, and I know how to do my makeup pretty decent, and my pictures turned out really well!

I tried out the MUA I was looking at for my wedding. I loved her so I booked her for my big day.
Professional makeup will show much better in photos than your everyday makeup. If I was spending money on engagement pictures, then I wanted to get the most out of my money and make sure I look amazing

I got mine done at Sephora and they did a wonderful job. I wanted a look that was on the natural side because I don't usually wear much makeup, but did want to make my eyes pop a bit, smooth out blemishes that the camera might pick up, etc. The great thing about going to Sephora was that the MUA shared her techniques and tools while she was working, so I learned a bunch too. It also gave me a good idea of some products I like, and some before/after photos to share with my day-of MUA, who I hadn't hired yet when we did our engagement photos.

I would get your makeup done for sure! In my opinion, Sephora makes so much more sense because the makeover is essentially free with $50 worth of products. I got my makeup done for my sister in laws wedding last year at Ulta and it was so expensive, I got zero products out of it, and the quality was way worse than Sephora.
