FH and I are trying to figure out who will give toasts at our wedding vs rehearsal dinner...many people, including both sets of parents, our siblings, and close friends, have asked if they could give a toast...of course as the bride and groom, we'd love to hear what they have to say, but how many...

Is there etiquette around how many toasts are given at a reception? Or who does them? Who will give/did give a toast at your wedding? Thanks in advance!

Listening to a well-written toast is one of my favorite things at a wedding, but after about 5 even I'd probably start to get bored. We will have 3 or 4 depending on if his parents want to speak. Our rehearsal dinner is a welcome dinner for all out-of-town guests and it will have open mic toasts. But it is very informal at a rented campsite so people, especially kids, can go play in the woods or something.

I'd say you can let whoever you want toast at the rehearsal/ rehearsal dinner, but keep the ones at the reception to a minimum

We kept it to three. My dad gave a welcome toast, then my MOH gave her toast and the Best Man gave his toast. I think past the MOH, BM and maybe one family member, you'll want any other speeches to happen at the RD.

I hope to keep ours to 3 total & each 2-3 minutes long. A lot of toast & really long toasts at weddings can get awkward.
