Maggie Sottero-Jade help!!!

MrsKruse, on November 25, 2016 at 3:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

So. I've tried on the Maggie Sottero Jade and think it could be my dress, BUT the sample size 10 was at least two sizes too big, and with that dress being all strappy it's hard to get a feel for what it will look like when it fits. I don't want to order the thing before seeing exactly how it'll fit and no stores seem to have a sample smaller than a 10. Also, the samples all seem to be in Ivory and I'd really like to see what it looks like in white. What do I do?!

Have you actually tried on the 10 and had the store pull it back to get a better idea of how it will look? Because that is your only good option. Do that and then try to envision it in white. Once you order it, it can be pretty difficult to return a dress unless the store is willing to apply the price to another dress in their store.

You may just have to trust your gut. Did the salon clip you in at all? That will help. Also, try a google search to see if you can find real brides with actual white. And have you tried on a "white" dress? Ivory most times is what people think of white. True white can be very hard to pull off.

Here's a photo of me in the size 10. They do have it clipped around me. Clearly the bust is too big and that's hard to fix in the store, and in that lighting the color isn't the most flattering....but in spite of all that I'm still in love with the dress.

Look at other Maggie Sottero dresses in the Platinum collection in white if they carry them and see if you really love the color. My Sottero only comes in ivory, but the dresses I tried on in white were too harsh for my complexion.

The dress is gorgeous, and it will be stunning once it's for to your body. Even if you call far and wide and find a sample in the size you'll order, it's unlikely to fit perfectly. Have them pin the back so you can see the front, then pin the front so you can see the back. ETA: they didn't do a fantastic job clipping that for you to see how it will look. Perhaps another consultant could help you get a better look at it!

Yeah about the color, I think it's definitely dependent on lighting. A lot of the pictures I've seen online make the ivory look super light. I'm getting married outdoors (weather permitting) so the ivory will probably be fine. Maybe I'll go earlier in the day and have them let me get closer to a window to see it. Also I am planning on tanning (I know, I know) before the wedding.

I think the dress is beautiful! I tried on the dress I picked out and it was definitely too big but they clipped it and I was able to get a good enough idea what It would look like

I was a Maggie bride as well and loved my dress (got many compliments as well). Mine was ivory but it was so light it was almost white. Try on white and ivory shoes to test the color difference (I went with silver).

Do you have some cups or a good padded bra you can use while trying it on? I had cups sewn in mine and I'm small busted.

I'm a Maggie bride as well. The dress is beautiful. If you're still thinking about it, you should get it. I bought mine without being able to try on a sample. I had to try on a gown that was similar in shape and take a big chance. It worked out for me.

They didn't do a good job clipping the dress for you. You should get the dress if it's still on your mind.
