I recently went to Macy's to set up our registry when the woman helping asked if I had set up the dream fund, I told her no I hadn't and that I didn't know what it was. I recently went to Macy's to set up our registry when the woman helping asked if I had set up the dream fund, I told her no I hadn't and that I didn't know what it was. She then hooked it up to my account and handed me a card and said okay here you go. I still had no idea what it was except that I was given a card for it. I later looked it up and it's basically a spot for people to leave money on the gift card, I obviously do not want this so have been calling the past two days and keep being told that they division who handles the dream fund is closed.... who is closed mid week I have no idea. Just wanted others to learn from my mistake (: I'm quite annoyed at this point. Lol

Another thing with Macy's... if you have a Macy's credit card with them and let the registry employee know, there is a way they link it to your account. Each time a guest purchases something on your registry using their Macy's card, you get points credited to your account (they still receive the points they would with any other purchase). After the wedding, they'll send you a special card worth so much money based on the points. Like DH and I got our card a few weeks ago, and essentially it's a gift card with $126 on it!

Ya, they just automatically add that dreamfund in about 90% of the time, we had to say no multiple times. I was also just about to say what KYbride said! We have a Macy's credit card and have it linked it up with the registry so that we will get the points to use towards things that are not purchased off our registry along with the % discount they offer (which most stores do anyways)

I don't understand how it's tacky. I typically give couples a cash gift or Visa card. Then they can use $$$ towards what they need instead of a $$$ bowl they scanned because it was shiny and pretty and they were just super excited to be scanning things, but will probably never use. Honestly, my fiance and I prefered cash so we can spend it towards necessities like new furniture, household expenses, etc. Being in early 30s we already have our own lives and our own stuff. We rather receive $$$ to put toward mortgage, new furniture, future kids, emergency account, etc instead of a 3rd pot set. I said all that to say it's not tacky and honestly a lot of couples prefer money but just don't want to ask for it. Just my opinion.
