Lounge Area - In or Out!

Michelle, on September 30, 2020 at 12:03 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 42
Hola,
Has anyone thought about adding a lounge area for your guests? Creating a relaxing space away from the party atmosphere that they can enjoy, especially the elders. Thoughts? Pros and Cons? Thanks so much! Lounge Area - In or Out! 1

I like the idea of it but I think it’s more of a con - in terms of space and renting the furniture

Yeah I could see that...we're actually great on space and would like to explore this option because we have so much space. Each event will be in a different space so once the ceremony is done, that space will serve no other purpose unless we get the seating area going. I should've stated if brides had people actually utilize the lounge seating.

I've been to several weddings with rented lounge furniture, and found that they were mostly used for photo opps as opposed to sitting for significant periods of time. We looked into it for our wedding, but decided it wasn't worth the cost (we were quoted an astronomical figure for a couch, set of chairs, and coffee table). They do look nice though!

It’s cute but definitely adding an unnecessary expense.

We are kind of doing this, but aren't renting lounge furniture. The new venue we found has a space that has rocking chairs (it is a barn/outdoor/rustic vibe) that are out on the patio that are a perfect place for people that don't want to be close to the music and such can go and relax but not be too far away. So when we are deciding what spaces we want to use I am making sure to include that space because I know that it will be used by the elders!

If you have the money it’s a nice thought. To me it’s just additional expense that might not be used.

I always wanted a lounge area for those not so into dancing and wanting to talk and catch up. We lucked out and found a relatively new lounge furniture rental company and got a 8 piece couch, coffee table, and ottomans set for less than $300 total (including tax and delivery). Some furniture rental places are crazy prices though! $700 for one couch? Uhhh, no. It would not have happened if we didn’t find this vendor at an open house.

I completely agree with Melle, Great idea, but more of a con.

You had a great point with older family members - if you're planning to have several grandparents, etc. it definitely seems like a good idea.

It's pretty. It is not something I ever considered doing. However, I have been to weddings that had lounge areas. It looks nice, but I am not sure how much it was actually used.

It’s a cute idea but requires a venue with a smaller separate area in order to truly relax and get away from the partying scene. Then again, if it’s out-of-the-way, it probably won’t get much use anyway. But, in my experience, when people are done with the party atmosphere they usually just leave.

Our venue actually comes with a lounge area with furniture. It's where cocktails will be served and is just outside our dinner/dancing area.

I think the only con is the expense. If you can afford it however, go for it- it will make for awesome pictures to look back at!
