Lost save the dates...what to do??

So we sent out our StDs on July 11th, and here it is two weeks later and some people still have yet to receive them. The weird thing is, in some cases, we had multiple StDs going to the same address, and one StD arrived, but the others didn't. I called USPS yesterday and they said there's not much...

So we sent out our StDs on July 11th, and here it is two weeks later and some people still have yet to receive them. The weird thing is, in some cases, we had multiple StDs going to the same address, and one StD arrived, but the others didn't. I called USPS yesterday and they said there's not much they can do and at this point the mail should be considered "missing."

I posted on Facebook yesterday (only guests could see it, of course) and asked people to comment if they hadn't received theirs yet, and a few people said they hadn't gotten theirs yet. This makes me worried that more people haven't gotten theirs than I thought. I included a link to my wedding website and a few people RSVP'd via the site, but not all of our guests use Facebook.

So...what should I do? Should I send an Evite to people who are missing their StDs, or just tell people missing an StD to just check out my website (via email or Facebook)? I don't currently have guest email addresses, so that would mean collecting those (ugh).

Also, now I'm kind of nervous about sending out invites....they cost so much money, and I'm nervous about them going missing again. Anyone have any suggestions for making sure they get to your guests? Should I be checking in with them at certain points to make sure they received their invites?

Mandy has a good point about point about the hand writing/typeface. I printed all names very clearly. Did multiple people address the envelopes? If so, maybe its one person's handwriting.

For the return address we used a custom stamp with our names, address, and snow flakes, so that if there was any issue it would be returned to us! Plus it save soooo much writing!

Here is a link -- since you are winter wedding too I thought you might like it! Smiley smile

    UPDATE:

I got three pieces back in the mail today with return-to-sender labels: two were labeled "attempted--not known," and one was labeled "not deliverable as addressed." All the handwriting is legibly printed, and I'm pretty sure I didn't get the addresses wrong...the only thing I can think of is that we wrote out all the state names and streets/road names instead of using abbreviations, but lots of other invitations were delivered...so I don't get it. Has anyone else experienced issues when writing things out all the way?

I'm really bummed out and annoyed and confused.

I'm going to go to the Post Office this week and show them the mail I just got and ask if they recommend using standard abbreviations. And per all of your recommendations, I will be collecting email addresses from all my guests, and I'll definitely be taking my invites directly to the Post Office instead of putting them in the bin, and maybe from a suburb instead.

Same thing happened to me with my save the dates sent them in April and it’s June 3 months and only about 5 maybe go them (of the people that told me they received theirs) we just sent our wedding invitations out it’s been 9 days and nobody’s receiving anything yet and I’m scared the same thing is gonna happen we weighed made sure postage was correct and sent them out at the post office . This is getting ridiculous I feel your frustration.
