Looking for very basic photography under $300 in Frederick, MD

Heather, on December 29, 2014 at 2:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

We are on a very tight budget and are looking for something one step up from a friend/relative with a camera. Maybe two hours total for some group photos before the ceremony and a photo or two from the ceremony itself. This would be June 20, 2015. Please let me know if you know of where to look for something like this!

I'm close to you- in Germantown. Not sure about any under $300; maybe think about getting a college photography student who wants to build their resume?? Ours is $1000 and in this area that was really reasonable. Try thumbtack.com, but remember, when photogs are *really* cheap you have to question the quality of their work sometimes!

At that rate, you may want to try Thumbtack, Craigslist, or something similar. If there is a university near you with a photography program, see if someone is looking to build their portfolio. Another idea (although this is a long shot) is to call a photographer you're in love with and see if they would be willing to give you an hourly rate. Best of luck to you!

$300 is a tiny budget. I think the suggestion to find a student may be the way to go. Google Photography Classes Frederick MD. Also look at photography clubs. Contact these places and see who they can put you in touch with, or ask if they will announce your offer to their students. I think that's probably your best option. Oh, and even if it's a student, get a contract. Always, always get a contract -- even if it's something simple you put together by yourself. Look for templates on line so that you know what you need to include.

I did a lot of research but baketure photography is my photographer for the wedding and he is $125 an hour and a professional. I would go check him out. I worked out a deal for 4 hours only $600. He works in DC, VA and MD. My wedding is in Bel Air.

Most pro photographers can book a full day job for a Sat. in June (prime wedding season). It will probably be difficult to find one willing to work only 2 hours (plus the editing time).

Whenever a photographer tells you s/he is not available, ask for a referral to someone they think is good but may be available.

That $$ on that day is going to be tough; it's a day that anyone decent is going to be doing an entire wedding at a regular rate.

I'd also look for a student with expectations to match.

Try a student from MICA (maryland institute college of arts) great students, and they will take a small budget to build their portfolio, that's my only suggestion for wedding photography, i don't know any in MD that will do it that cheap

I know someone who would charge 600, :/

but i agree with Candyce someone from Mica, orrr!!

check out brooke long photography on facebook, shes ;looking to book weddings in 2015 (she hasnt done them before) but she is phenomenal at concerts!

I would say I could do it as I'm a photographer myself, I would feel strange doing a wedding and feel so bad if I messed up the pictures.

    I'd do engagement pictures though!

That budget isn't even a drop of water in the bucket. I second the student idea, but don't expect the same results that a pro can provide. Or be happy with what any willing guests can provide, not an idea I recommend but it is better than no photos.
