Looking for advice on escort/place card idea!

Tina, on January 18, 2020 at 1:53 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10
I have vintage library card catalog cards similar to picture shown. They are blank except for a plastic tab at the top which has the original title. I also have card catalog drawers similar to shown but not inside a cabinet. I want to use all that as my escort cards with name, table number etc on them. BUT I also want assigned seating as it will be easier for the servers with the plated dinner. I am creating the menus (if you chose beef your menu would only describe the beef option meal) and each menu tied the a ribbon around it with a sachet of lavender, a packet a c. Howard mints, and a simple name tag. Something similar as shown. Do you think that is okay? I don’t mind all the effort I just want it to make sense. I am definitely having assigned seating !

I think that's really cute. To me it makes sense. The vintage library card with name and table # and then the menu with the name attached placed on the table with their assigned seat, correct?

Yes! The library card might have our wedding date or some other creative addition, but that’s the gist. My only other idea was to have a seating chart of some kind for table numbers and have the library cards on the menus with the name and not use the drawers at all.

Yep. No confusion here lol. Since you're actually doing assigned seats, I think escort cards would probably be a little easier and flow better. You could still use the escort cards but having them in a drawer might get a little cluttered with everyone trying to sift through it one by one.

    Sounds lovely!

I am just doing escort cards with table numbers and names with a sticker icon showing their food choice. When they sit the servers can see the escort cards with their choice and the menu will have all options.

I kind of like what you are doing because I actually think it makes a whole lot of sense!!

My only concern would be legibility. Just make sure it’s readable cause even I have a hard time reading small font!

Love the card catalog, what a great idea! Totally makes sense to have escort cards and assigned seat cards on the table. I second what Jasmine said about the drawers, they may hold things up a bit, but depending on the size of the wedding, it may not be too big an issue.
