Longline bra is SO uncomfortable to sit in! HELP!

HalloweenBride, on September 18, 2013 at 1:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

So, this past weekend was my bridal shower. I wore my longline strapless bra with the dress I wore to the shower. It is horribly uncomfortable! I'm used to wearing corsets so I figured it would be fine, but the boning bends goofy and digs into my ribs.

My problem is, that it helps suck me in and allows me to zip my wedding gown! I am considering putting a corset back into my gown, as I am nine and a half weeks pregnant now and will be 15 weeks by the wedding. That's something I really don't want to do, because I feel it will effect the look of the dress, but I may have no choice.

I've never bought spanx before, do you think these would be helpful in sucking my gut in? (It looked preggo BEFORE I was preggo.) and which ones would you recommend?

When I was pg there's no way I could stand anything crushing the belly area. I honestly think a corset might just be the way to go.

You could also check out the longline bras from DB, the one i wore when i tried dresses on was extremely comfy, i sat down wearing it while waiting for the girl to get another dress.

My longline bra IS from David's bridal! I wore it for 2 1/2 hours in the car, plus four hours of my shower, then on the drive home, I had to take it off at a rest stop and go braless!

I wore my longline for a day during my fitting and it was SUPER uncomfortable... but I think that it helped wearing it beforehand because when I wore it the day of the wedding it wasn't bad at all, so I kind of "broke it in" like shoes or something. Maybe it'll be better?

Word of warning -- I officiated a wedding where the bride was "a little bit pregnant" and her dress zipper would not stay up. In the week since she last tried on the dress and the wedding day she had "blossomed." Fortunately, I had a silver scarf in my bag and we were able to tie together the top back of dress!!

They make pregnancy spanx look into that it might help. All of my friends that have had babies say that you really don't want something like a corset or regular spanx on your stomach when pregnant but pregnancy spanx worked for some of them.

I would go corset. You can buy a kit from laceeis corsets on amazon for around $30 and they are super easy to put in. Even if you have zero sewing ability.

It also may be that the pregnancy is making the longline that you bought the wrong size......hate to say it but try resizing yourself and seeing if one the right size is more comfy?

I've worn it before, for a wedding last December, and it was uncomfortable then too. So it's not the pregnancy making it uncomfortable, I have, in fact, not gained any weight yet anyway.

Oooh! I checked out the laceeis corset it! I DO have sewing experience so I may actually do this. I had called my seamstress about it but she didn't sound like she had done it before and I'd rather do it myself if that was the case.

I wouldn't want to wear anything constricting pregnant personally. I also have tried two long line corsets from davids one I loved and one poked me so it might just be the corset?
