Long Veil Or Short Veil?

My dress has a long, very detailed train. I was originally planning on doing a fingertip veil, but after seeing so many beautiful pictures of long veils, I'm considering a longer veil instead (maybe a floor length veil, but not a cathedral veil). Would a floor length veil look OK with this dress? Or would the fingertip veil be better?

Here is a picture of my dress (obviously this is not me in the picture, and my dress is also ivory/ivory instead of nude/ivory).

Thanks!! Do you think a floor length veil that is long, but doesn't cover the train, would be epic enough? Or should I look for a cathedral veil that goes beyond the train? The train is so detailed, I'm concerned about covering it (it's one of my favorite parts about the dress), but I love the look of long veils!

I would definitely go with a cathedral veil, so that it extends well beyond the train of your dress and doesn’t take away from it. You will still be able to see all the beautiful details of your dress through the sheer material of the veil. And if it extends well beyond your dress, you could have a beautiful lace appliqué on the edges of the veil as well.
Here is an example of a detailed dress with a cathedral veil...

My dress train is a chapel train and I put a fingertip veil with it that matches the lace of my dress. I wanted to do floor but my stylist said that would look odd and take away from dress and veil because veil would get lost at bottom. Don’t know if it’s true, but I LOVE the look of my fingertip veil.

I haven’t revealed my whole outfit yet, but the 1st picture shows part of my dress train, and the simple veil picture bellow (comb is 1.5” x 3”, and 144” long and extra wide), which I got for $55. The handmade quality is way better than I expected. It is U-shaped and see through enough to show my train details. Note: The veil picture are not mine but it’s a picture of the veil I bought. My train is wider and longer than in the second picture. Long Veil Or Short Veil? 2

😮😮😮 that picture is beautiful!! And it's still easy to see the detail on the train through the veil. That makes me a little less nervous to look for long veils, lol. I had bought extra lace fabric for my dress, so even if my dress designer doesn't have a matching cathedral veil, I could always buy a plain one and add the lace from the extra fabric to the end of the veil. This helps a lot, thank you for sharing this!

After seeing the picture Chrysta posted of the cathedral veil, I have to agree with you both! Hoping to try some on with the dress if the dress shop will let me. If they do, I'll share pictures of how it looks. Thank you for your help!!

The train on your dress is so pretty!! It looks like the veil is transparent enough to see the details too. Thank you for sharing!! And that is a fantastic price for veil - can I ask where you found it at?

I'm excited to see what you think after trying on both lengths!! I love that you're leaning towards a simple tulle veil that doesn't distract from the gorgeous detailing in your dress! 😍
