Long Engagements

I've been seeing a lot of ladies on here that won't be getting married until 2021, 2022, 2025 - or later. Why did you choose to have such a long engagement? Are you saving up for something extravagant? Have you booked your dream venue yet?

My finance and I are wait two years to get married. He proposed to me on our 8th anniversary and we've always wanted to get married on our anniversary, so two years with be our tenth, May 22nd, 2020. We've booked our venue, which will also do catering, cake, flowers, and the ceremony. We aren't saving up for something extravagant, but we don't want either sets of parents to pay for our wedding. If they want to give us money as a gift that fine, but we don't want to have a situation were they think they have a say in the wedding details because they are paying for some of it.

Our engagement will be just over 2 years and just simply because we wanted to make sure we could save enough money to have what we want! I also am a very indecisive person so I knew I would need extra time to plan and make decisions.

We just got engaged on August 4, 2018. We don't want to rush anything. Plus we were already dating for 5 years before he proposed. We are trying to save up for our venue and for our honeymoon, which will be a cruise of some sort.

We didn't pick 2019 or 2020 because we are paying ourselves and I will be transitioning into a career after I finish school in May 2019. We selected our dream venue and because we did so early got whatever time slot we wanted.

My finace proposed last year on May 22, 2019 and we're getting married May 22, 2020. May 22 is our anniversary, so he proposed on our 8th and we will get married on our 10th anniversary. (The 9th anniversary was a Wednesday)

My date actually change several time because personal things were interfering with wedding planning, so instead of getting married originally 04/18/2020, we changed it to 07/17/2021, to give us to time to get everything we really wanted without stressing
