Location!!! Location!! Location!!!!

Shametra, on August 29, 2019 at 1:56 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 23
Hi Everyone!!! So since I recieved such good advice ideas and feedback from my last discussion I wanted everyone's opinion and suggestions for another!! So I found the perfect location and venue!! The only problem is it's 1 hours and 40 minutes away from our hometown where all of our family and friends reside so my question is..IS DO YOU THINK 1 HR 40 MIN TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR YOUR GUESTS TO DRIVE? my FH says no the people that truly want to come will come but I say maybe that's asking too much.. what do u all think

As long as there are hotel options nearby I think it’s fine. But I don’t think it’s fair to say those who truly want to come will because there are a lot of factors that can prevent people from coming no matter how badly they want to attend. I would check with your VIPs and see if getting lodging near the venue is something feasible for them.

Some might not want to make it, some will make overnight plans and make it a little get away. If I was close with the couple, I would definitely go and find a hotel. You could even do an extra bit of research and provide lodging options for guests.

I think it's fine. I'd be willing to go but if you do choose that location, people would likely leave early to commute back.

I think it's okay, especially since you're having a Saturday wedding. What times are you planning for the wedding to be starting and ending?

Also congrats fellow May 2020 bride! Smiley smile

I agree with this. Before we decided to elope, we had booked a venue just over an hour away from us. We knew that was still going to be quite a drive for our guests, so we were going to do a hotel block just to be considerate.

I mean everyone is having to travel for my wedding since they’re all scattered so I wish mine was only 1 hour 40 min away!

I personally would have no issue traveling that far as a guest!

I feel like a hour 40 minutes is not bad at all.. but other people feel different other than me and my FH!!! it may end up being a smaller turnout but hey less mouths I have to feed🤣

Basically it's where you have a hotel reserve a number of rooms for your guests to reserve if they choose to. Whatever rooms don't get used I don't believe would count against you.

Our family and friends live all over the country and everyone wants it in their state. Why couldn’t you have it in California? Why couldn’t you have it in Colorado? Texas? Charleston? Charlotte? We can’t please everyone no matter what we do. So we just picked a place we loved. I think if they’re upset about 1.40 drive they’re being ridiculous but like you said, saves you a lot of money lol

I would just set up a blocked hotel nearby. Our venue was 30 minutes south of Denver, we had two blocked hotel and provided transportation for guests. Over 50% of our guests lived out of state, and 90% of the ones in state lived 1.5+ hours away from the venue. Most everyone stayed in our blocked hotel.

I agree with this, we sent invites out to 19 states and 2 countries, so obviously we couldn't please all our guests with a location!
