I am at my last year of college and we can't afford the venue. Lately ilI have been thinking of taking out a loan to help out to pay for everything. FH is already paying for more than he can afford and maybe taking out a loan would lighten everything. Anyone has any advice on starting married life...

Wait, your wedding is in 5 months and you've just realized you can't afford the venue?

I'm sure it's tempting to take out a loan but PLEASE rethink this. It's incredibly irresponsible to spend money you don't have for a party. I recommend speaking with your venue about pushing your date back (like, far back) without losing your deposit. You need to save up the cash to pay for this if you want it that badly.

Also, I highly recommend you and your FH take some financial management courses to get you on the same page about money matters, and spending priorities. Finances are one of the top causes of disagreement and divorce.

Dave Ramsey's courses are really helpful and I recommend them to people on the verge of graduating college.

If both of you are going to take out a loan and he's already spending above his means, you need to push your wedding back for a while. You do not want to be in debt after your wedding. It's not a good way to start.
