Live Instagram Feed at Reception???

Christina, on December 8, 2013 at 5:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

Has anyone had, or is planning to have, a live instagram feed at their reception? My FH and I saw this at a wedding recently and we thought it would be an awesome way to interact with our guests. Our families all use Instagram and would probably post pictures anyway. We plan on using our 250 free vistaprint business cards on the tables to let everyone know what hashtag we are using. I am just wondering how to go about doing it or if anyone has used services like Eventstagram to do it. Thanks!

I'm not really sure how it works, but I think it's a cool idea. It's probably better if you have a lot of people invited.

I haven't, but I work with events (races) for a living and I've seen them do similar things. I would assume they will set up a screen, connected to a laptop with an internet connection. The laptop will run a program that refreshes a link to a page that searches for your hashtag at set intervals and shows images people have posted.

In my experience, screen rentals can be pretty pricey (and I would hope they also have someone on-site to fix problems that arise and to have backup equipment), but it could be a cool idea, especially if your guests love instagram.

We won't. I am not able to invite everyone that I'd like to and I don't want to rub in anyone's faces that we're having a ball without them. I'm still undecided on the regular #

I will just put a little sign out displaying the hashtag name near the card box and other decor during the cocktail hour so lots of people will have an opportunity to see it.

All you need to do is tell people the hashtag, just hope they actually type it write... It makes more sense to use an app like WEDPICS where everyone can upload and not lose it...

    We will be doing BOTH...

We put little signs on the tables with info about the instagram hashtag they could use and also how to download and use the wedpics app.

I maybe got about 20 photos out of it all. It was pretty disappointing.

We plan on using wedpics and an Instagram hashtag. So far, wedpics looks like an awesome option with some many options and easy printing (as opposed to Instagram)

I personally don't want everyone on their phones all night, so no, we won't be doing one.

But I went to a wedding where they used the WEDPICS app and it worked pretty well.

I made an Instagram hashtag for our wedding but have no idea how it even works to be honest. I've never used it and just wanted to learn so I could have the pics that our guests take in one place.

We used VP to print out info cards on using Wedpics for our guests to post their pics there. I'll be mailing them with the invites and will also have some at the wedding.

I think this is a really cool idea! So would the instagram feed be displayed somewhere at the reception for all too see?

@justaddcoffee It can be very disappointing if you do not have an active #hashtag crowd or at least someone there to coach or take the #instapics. I ran across this company, Social Weddings R Us. They handle it all for you and are quite reasonable.
