Lingerie shopping with mother in law? #not having a lingerie shower

Yup. She wants to go naughty panty shopping with me. A little backstory: my fiance is an only child (and my older brother's best friend!) and I come from a huge family of 8 kids. I've been friends with his mom since I was about 4 years old, and we are close, but for some reason she has it in her mind that we are going to be "best friends" when fiance and I are married. She brought up the convo about lingerie and asked if my mom was going to take me (um... no? Is she supposed to?) I told her that my bestie and I were going. Then she said several times that she would "love to take me." Umm... Is it just me or is that awkward? Then I texted my friend and begged her to go with me hahaha. She finally dropped it when I told her every time that bestie and I were going together, but then for my bridal shower(no lingerie) she got me a large sum gift card to a lingerie store. Is this awkward\weird, or am I just thinking too much? Why would I want her helping me pick out lingerie for her son?

My sister's MIL bought her some sexy lingerie for her shower because she wanted grandkids. It was awkward, but my sister laughed it off. I commend her for that. I don't know what I would do if my future MIL did this to me.

This sounds like my FMIL she bought me lingerie and my baby shower lol. FH turned bright red when I opened it lol.

No, no, no on the lingerie shower. When I planned my sister's bridal shower, I specifically said no lingerie as gifts. No judgement for people that do them, just not my style (or my family's) at all.

Pick up a pair of crotchless panties and just be like "oh yea, your son would loooooove these. Did you know he has a fetish for crotchless panties?" She'll never try to take you lingerie shopping again.

ETA: for real though, ask you FH to have the awkward conversation with his mom. He needs to tell her that he'd prefer his mom doesn't pick out lingerie with you because it makes him uncomfortable even if he really doesn't care. He's gotta take one for the team on this one.

Bahaha S&P, my thoughts exactly. I'd happily accept a gift card even though it's a little strange, but why would she want to see what you'll be wearing with her son??? That reminds me of a story I was reading once about someone's MIL who always does her laundry (including intimates) when she visits. There's just no reason for it.

I would feel super weird too! I just went to my friends bridal shower and some family got her lingerie and all I could think was dear god I hope no one gets me lingerie at my shower! My friend was a good sport about it she laughed it off it I know she was dying inside lol.
