Linens!?

Jennaya, on February 13, 2019 at 6:13 PM Posted in Planning 1 23

Help!!

For those of you who purchased linens (table clothes + napkins) for your wedding, what was your experience with them and where did you purchase them?

I noticed to purchase them was only $6.50 a piece while renting them is about 17$ a piece, to me it seems obvious that we should purchase them however i have heard that ironing them, is dreadful and the quality isn't great.

However the $10 difference per cloth may be worth the headache!

PLEASE HELP

Not only do you need to iron them, super time consuming, but you'll need to transport them without wrinkling and creasing them, as well as storing them in the meantime. There's also a chance that you'll want to wash them when they come in if they smell weird, then you'll need to wash them afterwards. I'd find a place in your budget to rent.

We bought all of ours linens and yes its going to be super annoying and time consuming but we needed them to be cheap. Luckily we will be able to being everything in the venue the day before and we'll have tons of helpers. We'll have someone on just ironing the linens and we'll put them on the tables immediately.

I bought chair sashes and satin tablecloths (I recommend linentablecloth.com) online and I honestly just through them in the dryer with a wet towel. It worked like a charm lol.

I bought all of our wedding stuff because like you said it is sooo much cheaper to do it that way then rent them! And depending on the material you choose you may not need to worry much about crease lines and such. I ordered mine from CV linens. They are absolutely incredible! Great prices lots of options both for color and material and they do it all! Napkins, tablecloths, sashes, you name it! They even sent me a free calendar with my purchase with some different style ideas for the pictures! Good luck hun Smiley smile

You can also go to a fabric store and buy white muslin fabric. Significantly cheaper than buying linens or renting.

Do the edges fray? are the wrinkles bad? that's a lot of fabric would need about 3.5 yards per table.

I was discussing with my wedding planner about renting table cloths and napkins, but when I went and looked at the pricing I got a bit shocked. I didn't even think about needing these items when I originally set up my budget and wasn't sure how to incorporate it. Now knowing that buying might be cheaper I'll look into that! I have a ton of helpers for the week before so I'm sure we can make sure there are no wrinkles and easily transport to the venue.

I also bought from linen table cloth. I haven’t done it yet, but to store and transport I understand wrapping around a cardboard tube or wooden dowel (stable
pool noodle?) and tying ribbon around them is a good way to store and transport.
we also have chair covers to deal with, and sashes and all the other stuff. Our local dry cleaner only does the table clothes and they are only 3.74/each. Will probably take the tableclothes there and handle the rest ourselves.
we got 50-80% off on sale so it was DEFINITELY cheaper!

For my sisters wedding the venue provided the table cloths and napkins but we purchased runners for each table. The came in pretty creased but nothing an iron couldn't fix. We then layered them in batches of 4-5 and rolled them. We did this almost a couple months prior to the big day if I remember correctly, and they turned out fine with no creases day of. I'm not sure how you would roll and store something the size of a table cloth but napkins should be easy, also if you're doing any sort of a folded napkin you could probably just store them prefolded.

It depends honestly. If you rent them from online you're still going to have to deal with ironing/steaming, so that shouldn't be your main consideration unless you're talking about renting from a local company that would deal with all the ironing and setup for you.

I bought most of mine from someone on Facebook marketplace, and got the remaining online. There was no way I was going to rent, not only is it expensive, but there was a $25 deposit and return shipping isn't free. If your linens are a universal color like white you probably have a good chance of selling them if you buy, I can attest to this since I paid someone $70 for like 80 blush napkins and 8 tablecloths (now that I think about it, if they bought their tablecloths from the same site that I did they probably got at least 2/3 of their money back)

I bought mine from tableclothsfactory.com and they are amazing! So cheap. Honestly to me, saving the money is TOTALLY worth all of the ironing, etc. I saved $200 this way!

    We bought ours from linentablecloth.com

Honestly saved so much money. We spent 250 total on about 30 tablecloths and 160 linen napkins. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

When we set up the venue we had two people helping out with the ironing. It was a pain in the behind, yes, but the savings were worth it 1000%.

I'm also planning on using tableclothsfactory.com when I order mine (soon). They were the cheapest I was able to find and honestly, my guests won't care if they look/feel cheap..and neither will I. It's been $10-$15 to rent and the ones I found are $6.19 so it's saving me money for something I can turn around and sell when I'm done.

Our venue is providing the basic white linens, but they will match the napkins to our color scheme. We purchased lavender satin overlays along with the tablecloth for our sweetheart table and swirl embroidered overlays for our cake table and candy tables. We also got chair sashes. We used cvlinens.com and we are very happy with them—they have sales from time to time and coupons.

That said, we will have to press them and get them to our venue the Thursday before our wedding. I actually saw a linen rental place delivering linens for an event while I was booking our date. All the tablecloths were neatly folded and draped individually on a coat hanger. Theoretically you could space your pressing out and do one every day if you have a place to hang everything up.

I haven’t taken them out of our boxes yet since our wedding is in July, but I just opened up this one and it’s not wrinkly at all! It will probably just have lots of fold lines.

We actually bought fabric from the Halloween costume clearance section the other day ( Smiley xd ) and are going to make runners out of it. It was something like $4-$6 a yard, vs the $40 I was looking at in my area for rented.

Absolutely savings are well worth it. And there is really no added headache. Order them early. Steam them a few weeks out. Hang them til needed. Have your day of coordinator or family/friends set the tables the day of. When your done, toss them in a Tupperware. When you get around to it, dry clean them and sell them on bridal yard sale and recoup some of the cost. Not a ton but still you save so much purchasing versus renting. I got all of mine on linentablecloth . Com

Tablecloth purchase in price varies based on the quality weight of the material. If you use high-end hotel quality you will find price and quantity may vary. Linenstablecloth, efvaorment are just two which give nice material and price. Remember if you purchase keep in mind you not only have to have them pressed before the wedding but you are responsible for the cleaning afterward. If you don't do a lot of entertaining or plan to donate the items to a church or event planner, I would suggest a rental. They come ready. They deliver, pick and clean, less work. YOur budget will determine your extravagance of purchasing linens. Good Luck!
