limo dilemma

futureMrsG, on April 19, 2019 at 9:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
We are in the process of figuring out how many limos we need and for how many people. Our ceremony location is different from our reception venue. We have a hotel that is also in the middle of both venue and church. We have guests that are coming from out of state and out of the country also. For my side of the family most of them are renting cars. I was thinking of just having my immediate family and bridal party with me in the limo so that we can take pictures at least before the ceremony and was hoping the same with my fiance and his groomsmen. But my fiance has more people going with them. My worry is that people will decide to just take their cars to both locations and that we will be renting limos that no one will use. If we do get two limos, how will the guests that are ok to drive would be able to take their cars to the reception? Any advice would be really helpful. Thank you

Can you just tell the people that are supposed to be in the limos that you have their transportation covered? I imagine if they are told beforehand that they don't have to drive, you won't hear much of an argument. Just make sure that the limo will take them from hotel to ceremony, ceremony to reception, and then reception to hotel at the end of the night, and that this works for your timeline.

Yeah, I've found that the closer we get, the more little things pop up! I'm counting myself lucky that the ceremony and reception are in the same place and the hotel is only about a mile and a half from the venue. The hotel has a shuttle that we got for the day (for under $200) that will take people between the hotel and venue before the ceremony and then after the reception. That way any guests staying at the hotel don't have to worry about drinking and driving.

We have a shuttle from our hotel too maybe im just overthinking this lol! Im just worried that people will still choose to drive because they have their families with them and that we are renting limos for nothing 😑😓 it also bothers me that i will be at a limo/party bus with some of the guests already going to the ceremony and they would already see me even before the ceremony you know 😓

Do you really need the shuttle bus and limo/party bus? Rent a limo (or 2) for the bridal parties only and let guests use the shuttle bus. Regular guests typically don't have limo transport. Maybe this way you can also downgrade the size if the limo(s) and save some money.

I tried to explain that to the FH but he still insists we need two limo/party buses 😒 if it was just me, i would just rent a regular limo and a party bus like what you suggest

I mean, it's his wedding to. I would maybe ask him why specifically he thinks you need this set up and explain how you don't want guests to see you before the actual ceremony and see if you can compromise. Maybe if he wants it, he can have a party bus with whoever he wants, and you can have a smaller limo with whoever you want.

I've been to weddings where guests drove themselves from the ceremony to the reception. You are not required to provide transportation for them, so guests who are able to drive should have their car with them at both locations.

My fiancé and I are not having a limo. It takes 10mins or less to get to the reception hall. You are not required to transport everyone.

    Hi there FutureMrsG!

Have you and your FS decided what to do with the transportation for your wedding?

Did you decide on the party bus and limo?

You could see if you have a fiend with a nice car or classic car to drive you and hubby. The rest can drive themselves. Although a party bus would be fun if you have a while to go in between ceremony site and reception.
