Hi,

So like most everyone else, my venue is offering to re-schedule for 2021, have a 50 person wedding this year which will end up still costing about $6,800 without cocktail hour or dancing; or cancel and lose $6K of my deposit.

This is exhausting and definitely takes the fun out of getting married. Haven't given up yet, but just seems like this is a lose-lose situation.

    Hi, and welcome!

I'm sorry everything is so rough!

Honestly, that price for 50 people sounds about average, considering food and staffing. Would you still have a full meal and space to mingle?

A lot of couples are switching to games and other entertainment, in lieu of dancing.

I'm so sorry Dorothy. ❤️ I know this is incredibly tough - but at least you've got options!

A 50 person wedding is a really decent size right now, and we've seen some really incredible small weddings this year (check out recently posted weddings here) if you want to go ahead this December, but you could also wait a year to see if social distancing guidelines and gathering limits have relaxed. Here's another discussion where NY December brides have been debating what to do: December Brides.

I'd talk out the pros and cons with your fiancé(e) and think on it for a few days!
