Letting Bridesmaids DIY their own Bouquet!!

We Do Again, on March 9, 2015 at 2:23 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

I'll be purchasing my flowers in bulk (from Sam's Club) and DIYing all of the arrangements. I thought it would be fun to have an "Arrangement Lunch Party" the day before the wedding (vow renewal). To make it even more fun for my amazing ladies (literally amazing! NO drama what-so-ever!) I'm going to let them make their own bouquets. The DH and I are visioning a relaxed stress free day with family and friends. I'm not stressing about details, matching or anything like that. Our first wedding was an adorable private ceremony on the beach, but my family and our friends weren't there. This is more for them than it is for us. So I want to make it as fun and relaxing as possible.

There's no question here, just a possible suggestion to the other laid back brides out there. Have fun and don't stress too much!

My girls DIY'd their own bouquets and it was so much fun! We cracked a bottle of wine and just messed around all day.

FCIL kind of did this. We just all kinda set there and did it. There was no expectation of BM's that couldn't come to do something. I made 2-3 bouquets because some of her BM's couldn't be there... I wasn't a BM, but a happy helper Smiley smile I say go for it.

That sounds really fun! I'm doing fresh flowers from a florist, but now I'm jealous of your plan, haha.

So what about the girls that are not crafty? Are they all OK with doing this?

My MOH is the absolute worst DIY/crafter ever and she would stress about something like this.

That is awesome! Unless, like Monica brought up one or some of the girls hate DIY or might find it stressful even if they are a crafter since it's for your wedding and clearly people are going to see them. I would just double check with all of them that they're fearless crafters.

I would also allow it to be an option and see if other crafty helpers would be willing to help (especially if you may be making table arrangements same day?) That way they don't feel pressured if they're not crafty Smiley smile

If I were asked to make my own bouquet...I would order it from a florist lol. I do not have a single flower-arranging bone in my body.

That is a very good thing to consider. I got lucky and all of my best friends are very crafty! (Maybe even more so than myself, and I like to think I'm pretty crafty!) And I've already reassured them that I don't care if they're "magazine perfect" arrangements. My whole renewal is about being laid back and meeting new family and friends. I'll be asking my grandmother to help "supervise" us. She worked in a greenhouse for about 40+ years and about half of that was spent arranging flowers for events. It'll be great getting pointers from a pro. My hope is that all of our bouquets are different and they showcase our personalities. Smiley smile

Personally, I am not a DIY'er so I would freak out if I had to make my own bouquet for my friends wedding.

I would ask if they want to do this. I would be irritated if I had to. I don't do flowers well and have zero interest.

My florist has a DIY option and we get to go 2 days before my wedding and make all of the bouquets and arrangements with the help of a floral coach. I'm really excited!
