Definitely depends on the dress. I don't have any pics of me and my dress bustled but I have found pics online of my dress bustled and have attached them. My skirt has ruffles/layers so they have to bustle it according to them so they all lay nicely.

1st- the back of my dress (this one is a pic of it on me)

2nd & 3rd - pics of my dress bustled that I found online

Pick the easiest one for your girls to replicate lol. My bustle looked great at my fitting but didn't look quite the same on the day of.

I'm seriously considered having my train cut off (oh the shame!)

I feel like it's just going to get in the way, even bustled. It's a full tulle skirt.

@FutureMrsD: thanks! i hate bustles. they're usually so ugly. i was happy i found a "bustle snob" seamstress. haha. she did a great job...

Jenn B, I'm thinking of taking my train off too. My dress has a full tulle skirt and the ceremony is outside. I feel like it will just get dirty.

I have a tulle ballgown and considered chopping off the train, but couldn't bear to do it as I loved it too much for walking down the aisle and what not.

I'm not a HUGE fan of it, but it's the best case scenario..and I googled the bustle (French bustle) and it's pretty common, I had just never personally seen one....pics to follow in a sec

My dress is mermaid style. Fit and flare. Not too crazy about the bustle but at the same time I don't really care about it. Most pictures will be taking without the bustle anyway.

Here it is. Looks better in person TBH and like M.A.Church said, I don't care either because pictures will be done without bustle done up anyway

EDIT: FYI ,,, there are 4 bustles lol sooo many layers

I have a mermaid fit as well. Ignore the lace falling off, it'll get put back on!

    ETA: That's a 5 point french bustle.

I have a lace dress. We're figuring out my bustle at the next fitting, but she said she'd probably do two bustles, an under and an over. This way the lace will hang nicely with no pouff.

I'm following. My dress isn't it yet, but I hope it will be a neat bustle that can be done by my girls on wedding day.
