Lesbian sister is my Moh, wearing a suit, what should she carry down the aisle?? help!

Korina, on October 20, 2019 at 10:43 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 21

Hi there!

My sister will be my maid of honor and she is a lesbian, she offered to wear a dress if that is what i wanted. I told her no way, i wouldnt want her uncomfortable or to not be herself because it would be "eaiser" to plan. She will be a wearing a suit the same color as the groomsmen but with her vest matching the bridesmaids dresses while the groomsmen's vests will match their suits. We are having a hard time trying to figure out different ideas of what she would carry down the aisle. Originally we planned on having the bridesmaids carry bouquets, I only have 2 other bridemaids, but now not really sure what we should do. Not too sure if it would look funny to have my MOH carry a bouquet in a suit or not? She's not a girly, flowery person but would carry one if wanted her to. Wondering if anyone has any ideas for something different for her to carry or even all 3 of them. Our groomsmen and bridemaids will not be walking in together as we have an uneven number but my bridemaids and MOH will be walking in before me traditionally.

Thank you!!!!

I looked at inspo pictures and it seems you could have her either carry bouquet or just have her wear a boutineer. It seems people do a variety of things. Whatever you guys choose it will be great!!!

My MOH will also wear a suit. They will still all carry bouquets. It looks cute with the suit.

Unless she is against carrying a bouquet, I would have her do that. I think gorgeous flowers would look great being carried by someone in any outfit.

She could just wear a boutineer, a bouquet is not necessary. I would ask her for her preference and just go with what she is comfortable with.

She could carry a bouquet or wear a bout, whatever she's comfortable with.

I would have her carry a bouquet like the other bridesmaids. If she’s not a “girly, flowery person,” she may appreciate not having to wear a boutonniere all evening. And even though it’s very sweet that you’re trying to accommodate your sister, it is still your wedding and your pictures that you’ll be looking at for the rest of your life. Make sure your choice isn’t going to be something you regret for her preference.

It's really all about what you want and what you think would look best! You can have her carry a bouquet, I think that would look fine. Or she can wear a boutonniere to match the groomsmen and have her walk down the aisle with her hands in front of her, similar to the other bridesmaids. Here a few photos I found showing the different ways.

The groomsmen will be walking in alone at the same time as the groom and than the bridesmaids, moh and flower girls will come before me. we have uneven bridal party so we thought it would be best to have them walk seperate. and i am pretty sure they are doing boutonnieres.

You're very welcome! If she's comfortable with it, I'd say have her carry a bouquet. For the main reason that you can take some beautiful photos using all the bouquets as props!

That is very true, we all just want to make sure she doesnt look out of place. i know she is worried my photos wont turn out as good because she may look out of place. i think they will look fantastic and its great to hear most people think her carrying a bouquet will still look good!

The photos will look great no matter what you decide! The best part about them will be they're unique and true to you all. That's what's important. Be yourself and have her do the same. They'll turn out great Smiley smile

I say either a bouquet or boutonniere and I would let her choose which she prefers. Either option will look great.

I think if you all agree to bouquets they could look nice, but just a boutonniere would be nice as well. I love the idea of carrying lanterns. We had them at our altar because there is a lot of symbolism for us. Here are a few more ideas...These are gorgeous!Lesbian sister is my Moh, wearing a suit, what should she carry down the aisle?? help! 5

How about a wrist corsage that is special and different from the groomsmen? Or she can carry a box with your rings in it or bible with flowers on it?
