Left Handed Brides

Southpaw here! I am a lefty and have had a horrible time adjusting to wearing my engagement ring! Since I use my left hand for mostly everything I am always catching it on things/scraping it against stuff and it makes me cringe every time and then I have to inspect it to make sure it didn't get damaged.. I was wondering if any other lefties had the same type of issues and what tricks or tips you have to make those occurrences less common or will I just have to get used to it over time?

I'm a lefty too! I've been wearing mine for 15 years and I still get it caught on stuff. But you do get used to it. Sometimes I spin the stones towards my palm if I know I'm going to be doing something that might damage them.

I had an oboe teacher who was a lefty and she actually wore her rings on her right hand.

I have been taking mine off for stuff too but felt weird because everyone else who is right handed I've asked doesn't have to do that so I wondered if it was just me! haha

I'm a southpaw too and a total klutz. Bang my ring on things constantly though I found it totally comfortable after a week or so.

I take it to the jeweler every six months to make sure that the prongs are in place since it's heirloom and somewhat delicate. And of course it's insured. So far no damage whatsoever and I don't worry anymore about it!

Lefty here tooSmiley smile i take it off when i do things that will potentially put stress on the ring. it's a rough diamond so it's porous too.

I'm a lefty too and don't have too many issues, but my assistant principal is also a lefty...and wears her rings on her right hand! :-)

As another lefty I keep ring holders everywhere and don't wear it when I'm working on household things. I also just get it checked a lot to make sure. I also chose not to have my band soldered so that I could wear it without the ering.

I'm an artist who is left handed and I take my ring off all the time when I draw. It will never change. Just move it to your right hand when you write.

Yes, to all of this. You are in good company. I am also clumsy so I am always banging it against something. Yesterday, while playing dress up in my wedding dress, I got it caught in some of the sheer paneling. @AccountantEmily, I take mine off a lot, too.

Glad to hear I am not alone! Thanks everyone! I like the idea of just moving to my right hand or having ring trays so i can take it off when I am doing something hands on

Lefty here! Sort of. Technically I'm cross-dominant, but I do write with my left hand. The weight of my ring bothered me for a little, but I just got used to it. That said, I also only wear my ring when I leave the house. I don't wear it at home because of the weight and hitting it on things and such.

Ambidextrous, but more left than right. I've worn rings on both hands most of my adult life. I guess I've just gotten used to them. Over time, you may notice you hit it less.

Funny SN: I knew there was an International Left Handers Day, but never paid attention to what day it actually was. It's 8/13 - our wedding day AND FH is also a leftie. I'm going to have to get him a leftie gift just because.
