Lawn Games?

MrsPreach2018, on March 3, 2018 at 3:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 28

Anyone having any lawn games, or attended a wedding with any? I'm looking into having cornhole and giant jenga, think it might be fun for the guests who don't want to dance and the kids. Already planning on having coloring books for little ones, think they might also enjoy them. Any suggestions, advice or tips are appreciated.

As someone who doesn't really like dancing, I LOVE this idea.

We are having giant dominoes, giant chess, tic tac toe. We're also getting a magician to walk around doing magic tricks.

Lots of kids at our wedding and no dancing.

We're planning to do corn hole, horseshoes and giant jenga. For the kids, are you planning to hire someone to watch the kids and entertain or are you leaving the entertaining to the parents'?

You could also do bocce ball or lawn bowling. Kids might like Twister or a giant game of Memory. A ring toss my be a fun DIY project if you’re into those.

I love the idea. Only two kids will be at my wedding my fiancé sister who will be 11 and my son who will be 10. I was gonna have my son bring his Nintendo switch or 3ds but love your idea more.

We’re planning to have some lawn games. Our venue is a B&B with a barn and I think we just want a laid back vibe. There aren’t a lot of kids invited but I think some of us “big kids” will play.

I'm leaving that to the parents. There'll only be 2 kids under 5, a handful between 8 and 13 years, which is why I'm kinda leaning towards lawn games for them.

My brother and his wife did this in October. It was a HUGE hit with kids and adults too!

My venue rents some—and I’ve considered doing it. Mostly bocce, which I considered bringing. My friends like bocce in general. It’s jot a super casual wedding but it’s laid back. It’s an indoor-outdoor location with a fire pit and s’mores. :-)

We have a small deck area that would be perfect for cornhole that we’re considering. I think both of those would be great! I like that they aren’t big group games that people are forced into participating in.

I bought coloring books and crayons... i am also going to have the dj do some fun kids themed games in between ceremony and reception like whoever picks up the most rose petals after the ceremony gets a prize and guess the amount of Hershey kisses for prizes. I am printing up mad libs for the older ones.

We're not having lawn games, but we are setting the kids up at their own table with a stack of board games (Jenga, Watch Your Mouth, Pictionary...) as the centerpiece instead of the candles we will have on all of the other tables.

Seems like a casual bbq and not a wedding.

Our Cocktail Hour is downstairs and outside as the Ceremony space is being turned over to Reception. We are having bocce and cornhole. It was cheaper to buy those games (and keep them later to have in our future yard) than rent them. If you decide to go the route, I recommend looking on Groupon.

We will have corn hole and giant jenga. I wanted croquet as well but the mallets seemed like a bad idea with some of the kids. We'll have have a kids table with coloring books and other activities.

Oh I totally forgot about bocce! I love that. Just did a really quick search and found a set on Amazon in our wedding colors. I'm adding it to the list. Plus I think it will make for cute photos.
