Late reception

Carrie, on September 6, 2019 at 2:50 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
We’re having a beach wedding at 630 so by the time ceremony is over and we do pictures, reception won’t start until 8. Everyone will be at the rental house the day before. Would it be weird to have a late lunch before ceremony like at 3pm and have finger foods after?

I would serve dinner. If your ceremony is beginning at 6:30, your guests will likely start to get ready by 4:30ish. That means their last meal may be around 3:30? They're going to be ready for a meal by 8 pm.

True for normal people but most of our guests drink and won’t eat much that is my only concern about a large meal late, but I also don’t want them hungry

If you know your guests drink, I would definitely serve dinner. They're going to need something heavier than finger foods on their stomach for all that alcohol. People will eat free food, I promise! Smiley xd

This is a little odd and may not work but if I was a guest at a later wedding, I wouldn’t be mad if there were passed appetizers before the ceremony while everyone is finding their seats and mingling?

That’s a good idea, so appetizers before to hold them over until the 8pm dinner?!?

I would serve dinner. Eating apps during cocktail hour at 7pm would hold me over. Then do some quick intros first dance and begin serving dinner at 8:15pm.

Yeah! Maybe light appetizers before ceremony, then some during cocktail hour, then dinner
