Late night snacks to go

💗💗, on January 1, 2019 at 9:16 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15
My wedding venue is really tough on outside vendors, they have allowed us to bring in dipping dots (ice cream in tiny balls ) but no other outside food . My planner at the venue said that we could bring in food as favors, but no other outside food.

I mentioned to my fiance that I prefer a late night snack that isn’t “sweet”. I told him I like the ice cream, but I prefer a snack(we are not doing a grooms’ cake and he wants this ) . I asked my fiancé what about us having a to go late night snack like Chic Fil A nuggets or sandwiches or Taco Bell Tacos . He said he thinks that it’s a little odd and people would prefer to have something during the middle of the night after dinner. I don’t know if I 100% agree with this and feel that maybe the to go snack would be an extra treat or surprise ? What do you all think ? Also, what is a way I can gift this so it’s not so awkward ?

I think to-go snacks are awesome - and can double as a wedding favor! Here are some cute ideas I found on Pinterest Smiley smile

I also prefer for late night snacks to be something savory as opposed to sweet, because you should be providing some kind of dessert, and who wants to eat wedding cake and then have ice cream a couple of hours later? Plus, sweets aren't always the best thing to eat if you're drinking alcohol. I'm not sure you're going to get your venue to allow you to bring in Taco Bell or Chick-fil-A, and I don't think you could pass off chicken nuggets or tacos as "favors" either. I think popcorn or trail mix would be less risky and also easier for you to provide. You could also make either of those options into a "bar" and provide sweet and savory toppings so your guests can choose what they want.

Thank you, I love the first picture. I’m crossing my fingers that they work with us, we are already spending so much and I want to customize our day without breaking the budget .

Thank you, I agree. The venue may not budge. However, I’m hoping that since I’m asking if my wedding planner can pass them out when they are passing the petals or right afterwards, maybe they will make an exception. I thought about pop corn, but that’s not really us. The same with trail mix, but it has me thinking. If you have any additional ideas, please share. I do love both of those ideas, I’m just trying to have something that makes sense for us .

I was thinking about this too. When would be a good idea to pass or have those out ? The dilemma that I’m having is with the venue . I’m trying to figure out if they will require us to put them on the table as “wedding favors” like during cocktail hour, or will they be willing to work with us and let us bring them later . My only issue is, if they are brought later without an announcement , people may not see them. Unless maybe they are put next to the door or maybe the bar. I’m okay with them taking them home afterwards .

I think it’s awesome to do non sweet snacks

im just including them in my welcome bags that everyone will get because everyone is from out of town

i tried also to think of something as a savory “favor” and had trouble picking something “us” lol

i did get nice microwave safe Togo containers so people can each take 2 home (supper/apps and dessert or all dessert or all real food as they choose)

I agree with others peeps... after cake, more drinking & dancing, I’d love a protein snack! Can your venue offer a taco bar? Or hot dogs?

My cousin had buffet to go containers to keep things hot as people exited her wedding. She had breakfast burritos & beignets!

I went to a wedding where they arranged to have pizza delivered at midnight. That was a huge hit. They just set it out on a table and it was gone! Not sure how you could do something like the nuggets/coke thing and keep it warm or have time to individually package them. That is the issue with Pinterest. Always great ideas, but prove difficult to execute in real life. Lol

I love that idea. The venue has declined all my request to bring something in or pass it out at the end . I don’t want to be that person, but I feel like what’s going to keep my aunt from giving everyone a chicken sandwich as they wait to go to their room or to pick their car up. But we will see. It depends on my guest count also .

Does your venue offer late night snack options? It would be weird if they didn't yet disallow you to bring your own. Unless, I assume they are priced at a premium then boo...

How about non-hot foods like a salsa bar or 7-layer dip? Can you hire a food truck to have within reasonable walking distance? Pretzels and chips?
