Late night snacks at the reception?

HILLERY, on February 19, 2019 at 7:48 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 18
So we were planning on paying extra for a late night station of pizza, wings and roast beef sliders. I was speaking to someone about it who said his daughter had that at her wedding and although the younger crowd liked it many people had already left the venue and she had to pay for the whole wedding party. Any thoughts on this ?

I think I would love it as a guest! But it's true that many people will leave early. Is this late night snack provided by your venue? Will you be paying per head? If so then you'll likely be paying for people like your friend's daughter did who aren't there to enjoy it.

Are you staying at a hotel? If so, if the hotel has a lobby with places to sit you could always host late night snacks there. Lots of places deliver late. Or, you could just go to a local bar for an after party.

The late night snack is provided by the venue. I definitely love your ideas about the hotel or going out after! Thank you!

I was just at a wedding in september and they did this! It was amazing! It really depends on what your wedding demographic will be like. The majority of their guests were 25-35 so it was very popular! Good to sober people up as well.

    This is pretty typical.
There were a few things that our caterer only set up for a certain percentage of our guests , like I think they planned for only 75% to have the dessert, etc. So, you could play around with that too, and order fewer portions

I think you’re right , most of our guests will be younger than 40 so they’ll probably stay for snacks.

Our venue offers this with their packages but we only have to pay for 1/2 the head count because they understand alot of people would have left already

Wow that’s really great that they offer that! I’ll ask my venue if they offer anything like that.

We were thinking about having a late night snack, then we decided to have a brunch wedding. As a guest, I would love it! But don’t stress your budget for it.

FH and I are planning on hanging out with some VIPs after and getting pizza or something, like PP said. Probably a cheaper option!

I’ll I personally wouldn’t do it because I’m not serving alcohol or having my ceremony/reception late in the evening.

We had two late night snacks: smores and grilled cheese sandwiches. We only ordered enough for about half the guests to account for people leaving and/or not wanting a snack.

Yummy! I’d vote for pizza or sliders (no wings, too messy).

I think it's a know your crowd situation. I know I would love it, and we went with a venue that a late night snack is offered in the package. Also pizza and wings! If you think your crowd will love it and still be around go for it!!

I know I stick around til the end at weddings! So I would enjoy it! We have a casino/club right near our house so I think a lot of us will end up there after the wedding and the food court is bommmmb for late night drunk munchies!

That sounds so fun! I think it depends on your crowd. We have a lot of young people, a great DJ, and an open bar. So I assume people will stay later. We are also providing transportation, which means some guests will have to stay until the bus leaves hahahaha if they choose to take it! We are serving a plated salad at 6:30 PM, dinner is a buffet so guests will get food from 6:45-7:15 and probably done eating by around 8:00 PM. Our late night snack will be served at 10.

I think it's a great idea to provide late night snacks. I would just not go too overboard and maybe expect about half of your guests to maybe grab a bite if you're ordering food like what you had listed. I myself would indulge in a lot of late night snackage depending on how full I am after dinner but dancing always makes me feel more hungry. Although that may not be the same for different guests so just know your demographic.

We're planning on doing a popcorn bar during the evening which would be a nice little snack and also not too expensive for us to provide. Smiley smile

I would love it! I wouldn't go really crazy with the order though, otherwise you'll be stuck with a ton of food. It would be nice for some who have possibly drank a bit to much to get some food in them, and a lot of times at weddings at least for me I dance so much that i'm starving later on

I am wondering if my vendor allows the order to be for fewer guests than the final count. I know that some will leave early.
