Late night snack or food favors?

Hillary, on November 5, 2015 at 6:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 36

I'm contemplating whether I should offer a late night snack or just have some kind of food for favors at the end of the night. Either way I want to incorporate food! We will have around 120 guests and our reception is from 7:30-10:30 p.m. I know the guests will appreciate extra food since we are having open bar. if you have done either of these ideas, what kind of food did you offer?

Pizza sounds good and affordable! Did you order it from your caterer or purchase it yourself? I'll have to see if my venue will allow outside food.

That's a pretty short reception that ends early. I wouldn't bother with a late night snack. I think that is more for the receptions that end late at like 1am. Our reception ended at 11pm and dinner was served at 7:30 pm. No need for a snack since they just ate dinner!

Wait, now that I am reading this closer ... You said you want to "incorporate food"... are you not having food at all? Just open bar from 7:30-10:30 pm?

@rosie9615 Those look yummy! I was actually considering having krispy kreme as a favor because the FH loves their doughnuts!

@kelli Sorry, let me clarify. Were having a pre-reception cocktail hour at 6:30, which in total is 4 hrs for the reception. We are serving dinner at 7:30. I'm just wanting the guests to have some extra options.

Ah ok I was wondering Smiley smile Our wedding was at 630, cocktails immediately following, dinner at 730, cake about 830, leave at 1100. Open bar also. I won't be any help because we didn't chose to provide a snack because we provided a full dinner. Like I said, I feel like late night snack is at midnight. Maybe others can be of more help.

We kind of did both. We had a candy buffet out all night but also at around 10:45 we had cheeseburger sliders and mini pizzas passed for everyone. After all the drinking and dancing everyone appreciated getting a snack..

Pizza is always a popular option. I went to a wedding that had toasted ravioli and nachos and people loved it. I think in general people appreciate most food especially after an open bar Smiley smile

We are doing pizza and people are very excited about it. One couple is planning to put their baby to bed and one of them run back to grab some slices. Our reception is going later though so we are serving it at 11.

You don't have to do either. If you want to do one or the other Id go with edible favors. If dinner is at 7:30 and you have cake (or other wedding dessert) at some point, guests probably won't be hungry before the reception ends at 10:30. Maybe you could do a dessert bar or candy buffet with your wedding dessert and provide to go bags so it also acts like a favor. We are doing cupcakes as our favor and will have them pre boxed for guests to take home.

We went to a wedding recently that put out chicken fingers and french fries. It was the perfect snack after a few drinks! They also had a table of cookies for dessert.

We're having an ice cream bar for a late night snack! Smiley smile dinner is from 8-9 and then we have the venue until 1am so I'm thinking that we'll have the ice cream bar around 10:30.
