Late fall/winter weddings, wraps, scarfs, ponchos or what?!

Fall bride 17 - 2.0, on January 27, 2017 at 7:36 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 22

I woke @ 5:30am worrying about how to keep my MOH' and bridesmaids warm! Our climate here can be quite chilly! Any recommendations on what to purchase?

*can't believe I worry so much about small details ! lol*

I have wool wraps for my girls for the few moments we will be outside for photos. Look on pinterest at winter weddings and you will see lots of options.

@Jenn wool wraps are a great idea, and yes Olivia, my bridal party's comfort is more important than mine, I had looked at faux fur wraps, but some look pretty cheap, and I can't afford the real thing.

How many BM's do you have? Banana Republic Factory has a lot of clearance right now, and some really cute wraps. You can look online for something you like, I work there and haven't seen an "ugly" one yet, and they are returnable. Make sure you go to the factory website rather than the specialty (full price) website!

I bought an off white fashion scarf for myself. I have a mid-April wedding so the weather is up in the air but hopefully on the warmer side. It matches my dress perfectly! It is also wide so I can expand it a bit if needed. I haven't chosen anything for my BM's yet, because we don't have wedding colors picked out.

We decided to take all of our group photos inside and just went outside the two of us. I didn't think any wrap or stole would really be warm enough. I was gifted a vintage fur coat which really worked with the style we were going for with our photos, but obviously isn't going to work for an entire BP.

I was given a gold pashmina as a bridesmaid "gift" and I'll never use it again. I would say get blanket scarfs (amazon has them for $15) and get them in a neutral color combo. I'd be willing to bet your girls would reuse those!

Ceremony/reception is inside, if the weather isn't to terrible..as in snow, I would love a few outside pictures at our local historical site.

Following...but I love the ideas thrown out already. I especially like the suggestions of toe warmers for the party!

Gotcha. I did one wedding last year, at a farm, in weather that was far too cold to really be outside. The girls wore thermal tights under their dresses (no one could tell) and they had really cute plaid shawls. (Pastel, light colors).

I have four pashimas that were gifts, and I"ve never used them again.

I bought my girls faux fur wraps from David's Bridal in case we went outside for photos. They said the wraps were warm. They came with muffs, which were also warm, I'm told. My girls also wore long dresses and I told them they could wear tights and boots underneath if they wanted to.

For myself I bought a long cape from Cape & Crowne on Etsy because the two of us were definitely going to go outside for our first look. The cape was VERY warm. It really did take the place of a coat. It came with a muff, which I didn't get many pictures of (I was carrying my bouquet most of the time), but kept my hands very warm.

The cape may be a bit much for October unless it's super cold, but the wraps could certainly work in late October.

I was planning on doing something like this in our colors of blue and orange. We're having an outdoor wedding ceremony in later October. Hopefully it's not too chilly....

I made ruana wraps for the women and scarves for the men. It was 50 at my wedding, but a cloudy chilly 50. Everyone said the wraps kept them warm and were really nice. I used a thick wool blend blanket type material.

I was in a wedding in Philly this November - ceremony and reception were inside, but the bride got us plaid wool scarves to keep us warm while taking pictures. I think the pictures we took with the scarves were even cuter than the ones without! She got us these and flannel shirts to get ready in from Old Navy.
