Last minute both groomsmen dropped out

Hi everyone,
The only 2 groomsmen just dropped out of the wedding (in October) as their wives/SO’s are not comfortable traveling due to covid. I feel so bad for my FH as he is super disappointed and bummed. Has this ever happened to anyone else or does anyone have any advice for how I can support FH and/or what we could do for the ceremony?

That stinks. We had a small bridal party only two groomsmen and two bridesmaids. My Husband actually walked down the aisle behind the Officiant and took his place and then the rest of us followed. Perhaps instead of having your FH already standing at the alter alone he can walk down the aisle. Then after your bridesmaids walk down the aisle, perhaps have them sit in the front row, so that only you and your FH are standing up. Less focus will be on FH side being empty and more on the both of you saying your vows.

Or if he knows one of your bridesmaids well, one can stand on his side, one on your side.

That's too bad. Covid is so hard on weddings. I would think about just having the wedding party seated during the vows, and do a sweetheart table for the reception. All my best during this difficult time.
