You hear all these stories of Vegas weddings ... like they make movies out of this shit. But really ... this whole wedding planning extravaganza has made me question if this isn't truly the right choice.

We are thinking of getting married in Vegas with close friends and family ... but I've never been to vegas, and my fiance has but it was his 21st birthday a long time ago so ... he doesn't really remember it.

Point being, I'm afraid of a tacky wedding from what I've seen in the movies but ... being on here, my wedding planning has been exceptionally tacky within itself so I don't think it would be too far a stretch.

LOOKING FOR INSIGHT .... If you've had a vegas wedding, what was it like, I need details. What all is included. HELP (I'm from Texas)

Went to one Vegas wedding. FH was a groomsman and they are everyone split the cost of the reception dinner. We weren't informed of this in advance either

@elphaba ya even 3,000 is over budget for us.

If we didn't have family helping us, we would have just gone to the justice of the peace here in Texas, but as my brother told me, "Mom and Dad are gonna kill you if you do that" .... So we are doing a small wedding in Vegas. We found a package for like $700 that includes minister, chapel, decor, flowers, limo, and photos and video! The Chapel of Flowers.

It was between them and Chapel of Crystals, but when I called each of them, I was more impressed with the Flowers location.

My FMIL said, so this is what you want? Okay, it's paid for.

My parents bought the dress and my god father will be paying for airfare and hotel. They all want to be there when we get married, and some of them have been to Vegas and loved it and wanted to return, the others have never been and would love to go. So it worked all around for our family ....

We are probably going to stay in the Golden Nugget, which is where FH's parent's are staying. They already booked their hotel and airfare the same day his Mom paid for the wedding! I was just in shock!

I just got married in Vegas but we live here. You can always go somewhere off strip to have your ceremony and go out to dinner afterwards. There are so many options!

OP you can have a tacky wedding or a beautiful wedding anywhere in the world. It's all in the execution.

Take some time to think things over. Our wedding is in Vegas because we wanted a DW and we love Vegas. I'm planning a fun, far from tacky wedding. It's all in how you plan it.

I was born and raised and currently live in Las Vegas and you're definitely able to have a great classy wedding - unlike the typical tacky one you're thinking. It might cost more but... you get what you pay for.
