Lady that's making my invitations won't give them to me! advice Pleasee!!!

Excuse the long post but I just don't know what to do anymore. I desperately need advise 😟

I paid this lady $179 IN OCTOBER 13 to make me my invitations she said I would have them in 4-6 weeks. November and December go by and I still dont have my invitations. I keep asking for updates and all she says is that she's working on them and that she will send them to me in a couple of days. January 18 I asked her how everything was going she said shes finishing them up and that she will mail them out by the end of the week and for me to send her the rest of the money which was 71.87 totaling up to 251.37. I let her know that I want to send them out no later than February 7 and she said I'll have them by them because she's almost done. To cut the story short, Last week (Thursday) she told them she mailed them and that I will get them tuesday or Wednesday (yesterday or today) and I asked her to give me a tracking number and she never replied back to me. I didn't get them yesterday so I asked for a tracking number again today to what she replied by saying that she will be mailing them out TODAY !! And that she'll send me the tracking number later. I asked if we can meet so that I can pick them up and save the shipping time and she never got back with me even though she's been on and off online in fb messages.

I'm so upset I've tried to be patient and nice but I just can't anymore, I hate the fact that she lied to me last week telling me that she had actually mailed them when in fact she didn't.
My fmil said that I should just take the loss and order invitations somewhere else. I ended up asking one of my friends (who happens to be a police officer) and he said I can file a complaint for "theft of service" I just dont know if I should do that or not, if I should just do as my fmil said and order new invitations or just be MORE patient and wait for her to actually mail them.

    File a complaint and order new ones. Sorry this is happening to you but you gave her plenty of chances and lying is a huge red flag. Hope it all works out for you!

    This is frustrating. Was this an informal agreement or did you have a contract? How did you pay? If possible file a dispute. I would let her know what you intend to do. Basically something like : I am very disappointed that you are not able to deliver the invitations on the agreed upon date. I have tried working with you but unfortunately you have not held up your end of the bargain. Ask for a refund. Whatever her response is, doesn't really matter. If you do have to file a report you will have the responses. There are a few sales on invitations sites now. Try shutterfly I believe they're having a sale, and maybe minted.

    I'd cut your losses, if you dont get a tracking number by Monday. Sounds suspect. Minted does great work and you'll get them in a week.

    Where did you hire this person through? Do you have a signed contract, or any documented communication on your order and timeline? I honestly would not have paid the remaining balance without any items in hand, but seems like you already did. If you do not hear back from her by the morning, I would contact her again and say that you would like a full refund, as she is way past the deadline promised, and you are assuming she has not completed them. If she still doesn’t respond by the afternoon, tell her you plan on filing action against her due to her lack of response. You’ve given this person plenty of opportunity to follow through, and she continues to bail. That’s a lot of money, and she needs to give it back to you. At this point, if she actually does send them, she needs to overnight them, at her expense. She blatantly lied about sending them and this whole situation is unacceptable. Even if she does follow through, I would still ask for a partial refund. I would start looking elsewhere, your invitations should be going out in like 2 weeks!

    I would call your bank to see if they can dispute the charge. Was this seller from Etsy? maybe contact the customer service line to see if there is anything they can do.

    I would give it a week and see if the invites arrive. I would not pay her the rest of the money...and when she asks for it tell her the check is in the mail lol. In the mean time I would look at and design other invites so they are ready for you to buy when it's clear that your invites are not coming. If they really don't come I would file a complaint and post an honest review on her site to prevent this happening to another bride. Best of luck!!

    I've sent her a message a pretty much told her that I expect them no later than February 14 and that I am open to meet with her if I need to if that means that I'll get them and if not, I asked her to give me a refund. We'll see how it goes, my fmil said if this doesnt work out we can go to the bank and see if they will help in getting my money back. Thank you for the advice ladies!

    I doubt the bank will get your money back. But you could message her and let her know you will be contacting the police for theft if you don’t get your invites by Friday. Ugh I’m mad for you! You’ve waited long enough. File w police on Friday and buy new invites online.

    I gave her the deadline for friday, she said "the envelopes haven't arrived" which means she was bsing me about sending them out today too! I am so upset but I will give her until friday and if the bank can't help I will file with the police.

    Wow yeah dont sound right seems like she was scaling you out of your money you can go on paperlesspost.com and they have invitations that some are free some are not free...and you can pick any style so this way you can track the guest response and dont spend 100s of dollars. I spent 20.00 on 50 invitations...so sorry what you are going through. Hopefully she really comes thru with them

    Honestly, I don't think she has invitations or has any intention of making them. It's been 4 months since you ordered them. Tomorrow, file the report with the police and contact your bank. Start a paper trail. Print out/save all your Facebook messages. Then go order new invitations.

    I'm serious. She isn't going to make you invitations and you cannot let this set you back. I realize that $250 is a lot of money. I just spent that on Minted invitations with only an invite and RSVP cards. BUT you are going to need to move on. She is scamming you so badly.

    I'm so sorry this is happening to you Smiley sad IF by chance she actually did send them i would give her a bad review after your receive them.. include screenshots of the messaged in the review. if she hasn't then i would try and rush order them from somewhere else and try to get a refund from her.

    Ann's Bridal Bargains. I ordered mine on Black Friday and had them 5 days later and they were perfect and very nicely priced! I'm so sorry you are dealing with this nonsense. I recommend filing a report and leave some honest reviews for her.

    This is awful can you dispute the charges if you paid by Credit/Debt? Do you have anything in writing like an invoice from her? What site did you find her on, could you inform them? I am so sorry you are dealing with someone like this.

    Zazzle, magnet street, anns bridal bargin, simplytoimpress, zola, shutterfly, minted,basicinvite,vista, cosco, walmart..

    Omg she finally put them in the mail on friday after my ffil called her. These invitations are a huge disappointment. The paper is not the right color and it looks like very cheap paper. When I placed my order I sent her a word document with the wording I wanted on invitation, details and RSVP card, specially because I had asked for some spanish ones. She could've just copy and paste. In January when she "showed" me her progress I had to correct a lot of typos (even though i had already sent her a REVISED word document of everything).


    The English ones are fine even though the cardstock is not the right.
    The Spanish ones have 2 typos AND in the details card she put like 3 words together without a space. I went back and checked and I DID corrected her when she showed me her "progress" and everything was fine.
    Oh and the print outs look like she was running out of ink when she printed them out. (Both english and spanish ones)
    It's a disaster.

    Omg, this is awful! I am so sorry this is happening to you, and that is seems to just continue on. I would request a full refund, and explain all the details that are wrong as you did above, and explain this is not what you agreed upon. Totally unacceptable. Reorder through a reputable site, and once you (hopefully) get your refund, leave honest reviews everywhere.
