Lace on dress irritating my skin! Any ideas to help!?

Samantha, on December 13, 2019 at 2:04 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
Hi, So my dress has lace all over and it wasn’t til I started my fittings I noticed the lace was irritating my skin on my arms/shoulders and under my armpits and my dress has a low open back so the lace is irritating it there too. My skin is super sensitive. I’m just wondering if there’s anything to help with that so I don’t have red marks all over the day of my wedding!

Oatmeal lotion? I know oatmeal bathes help with irritated skin so maybe if you find a lotion that has oatmeal it might be able to help soothe?

Ask your seamstress if there is anything she can put on the back of the lace or at the seams and edges to make it less irritating.

I've read posts about rubbing beeswax on the lace that is irritating. There are also tons of posts about rubbing your skin with an anti-chafe product (check sporting goods stores). In alterations, the seamstress sewed a soft, nude colored fabric on the underside of straps that were irritating daughter's shoulders and she had no further problems. There are lots of options!

Hey Samantha! I’m sorry that the lace on your dress is causing you irritation. Have you considered using fashion tape to act as a barrier between the lace and your skin? If you find clear body tape, it will not obstruct the look that the lace creates and will stop the chafing that is happening.

I have also come across suggestions of rubbing a fabric softener sheet over the lace that is causing irritation to try and soften the material.
