Kissing Balls/Ribbon Question

Chris & Jennifer, on January 17, 2011 at 10:55 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

Im making my own kissing balls and have just about everything I need except the satin ribbon. Few questions; Anyone have any suggestions for good places to buy it (online or store) and apx how much is needed per ball? What width ribbon did you use? Whats the best way to attach the ribbon?

(fyi..if you need a good site for the styrofoam balls try www.consumercrafts.com 4in ones are $1.27 each!)

Thanks everyone!!!

Are you making a ribbon kissing ball? I tried to do that and you need a LOT of ribbon, I just didn't want to spend the money so I ended up doing the tissue paper kissing ball. As for the amount of ribbon it really depends on the width of the ribbon and how big you're going to make the loops. I would say get 3-5 medium width ribbon rolls and then see how far that will take you. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

No, not a ribbon one (I'm not that ambitious! Lol). Just the regular floral kissing balls.

I've looked at a few tutorials no one really gives a length for the ribbon... I'll keep looking but this looked these looked like good instructions

I made the ribbon kissing balls and it was a pain, but SO worth it! Smiley smile I just used whatever size ribbon I wanted and straight pins. To hold the ribbon that you hang from wherever you decide, I used a hot glue gun & straight pins. Smiley smile

It would depend on how long you want them to hang. I would go for 6-8 inchs or longer doubled to make a loop. You can attach the ribbon to the ball first with hot glue and staples. Also it may depend on what you are hanging them on because you may have to leave to end of the ribbon open so that it can be tied on..
