Kilted Groom, anyone?

My amazing FH is going to be in full dress kilt on our wedding day. My flower girl will be 2 at the time of our wedding, so her dad will likely walk with her down the aisle, as we only have one attendant each. He is also going kilted and I think will coordinate with my FH. So handsome! Something like this, but without the pouch.

We went to Scotland several years ago for a wedding. You'll really see kilted groomsmen there.

My super handsome FH will be kilted as well!! He and his son (the best man) are wearing family tartans and the groomsmen are wearing either family or occupational tartans. My FH will be wearing a fly plaid while the groomsmen will not.

FH wears his kilt to all major social occasions, so this is to be expected.

My ex-husband is from Scotland (we met while I was living there), and he and the men in his family all wore kilts for our wedding. He chose the Spirit of Bannockburn tartan, which I loved and thought was a really unique choice since it also didn't involve a traditional black Prince Charlie jacket. The fly plaid looked really nice in it as well. If kilts are an option, I am always pro kilt!

That's amazing. I wish I could convince my FH to wear a kilt (he's Irish, do Irish wear kilts?) I'm sure he wouldn't go for it though lol. Can't wait to see your wedding pics!

Well, we have used Sport Kilt in the past, and they have great customer service. I think we are going to ask Seamus if he would make one for FH if we supply the fabric. If not, maybe a black kilt from Verillas? His family tartan is blue and green, mine is red and green (yuk). Our wedding colors are aubergine (plum/ eggplant), lavender and champagne. So we will see. If we find a company soon, I'll try to post here. If anyone has other recommendations, please share!!

Sorry it took me so long to pop back into this thread; it's been a busy week workwise!

FH is wearing our city's tartan, which was designed and is owned by the proprietor of the local Irish shop, so he had to order his kilt through them. #2 brother already owns a Black Watch kilt, and #1 brother will be renting his. We're lucky enough to have another store fairly nearby that specializes in Scottish/Irish attire, so between the two places, plus some online shopping, the guys will be able to put their kit together.

FH is in charge of gent's attire, but these are the details I've gotten out of him (he actually has mood boards for both looks, but hasn't sent them to me yet):

Groom: City of Bethlehem tartan kilt; Brian Boru jacket; white bow tie; white wing collar shirt; navy blue hose; red flashers; black shoes; sporran TBD, but he wants something kind of furry. I'm trying to gently talk him out of it, but I don't think I'm going to win that one Smiley winking

Groomsmen: Black Watch tartan kilt; vest (the style has a name, but I can't remember); black bow tie; white flat collar shirt; black hose; green flashers; black shoes; sporran TBD (#2 brother already has one, so FH may just lend #1 brother his extra).

I think all of the gents are going to look smashing! It cracks me up, though, that their outfits have more moving parts than mine Smiley smile

PS: FH will definitely wearing nothing under that kilt except his shoes and socks Smiley winking

It's all FH's doing! I swear the man has spent more time fussing over his and his brothers' outfits than I have over what I and the bridesmaids are wearing, LOL!!

My FH is of Scottish descent so most of the men in his family have kilts and I've suggested him wearing it, but he doesn't want to wear it the whole time. So I think for some pictures he'll wear his.

My FH has ordered all of his from HeritageofScotland.com. We ordered his wedding kilt from there (8-yard instead of 5-yard for added formality), plus all of our groomsmen's tartans, kilt hose, belts/buckles, and gift sets of cuff links, kilt pins, and sgian dubhs.

We're renting Prince Charlie jackets/vests, sporrans, and ghillie brogues for the groomsmen from Lothian Kilt Rentals in Dunedin, FL. They're about 45 minutes from us, so we were able to go in and talk to them, but they also do everything online.

We got our ring bearers' stuff from KiltRentalUSA, because Lothian didn't have the sizes we needed for our date.
