Kid ideas

Sarah, on October 20, 2019 at 10:38 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 9
Since I am going to have a handful of kids for the wedding and reception. I was thinking about making cute activity pails for them. They would be sand pails filled with some toys, games, books, coloring books, crayons, and glow sticks. Since I don’t want them to get bored. Has anyone else done anything like this or has any other suggestions on activities I can include for the kids to do?

I did that. I had the coloring books and crayons with stickers. If there's a local dollar store around you you could find all sorts of small toys and games too

Thank you, I know I want to make sure that the kids have something to do if they are bored or need a rest from dancing.

We’re going to have a lot of kids present as well and entertaining them is something I’ve been thinking about. I’m thinking about setting up an activity table during the reception with a lot of similar stuff—a basket of megablocks, coloring sheets and crayons, bubbles, maybe an easy, mess-free craft like make-your-own ribbon wand, and some dress-up clothes (no hats though, bc lice).

I also have a lot of friends and family who are pretty introverted and won’t want to dance all night, so I’m also planning on setting up another table with some board and card games they can take back to their tables, which older kids would probably enjoy as well.

Hey Sarah! This is a wonderful idea, and I think both the children and their parents will really appreciate them!

As long as there are other children around, I don't think that they will get bored at your wedding, especially with the activities you have already mentioned including.

Are most of the children around the same age?

Some of the kids are around the same age, some of them are older and younger.

Having kids activities during the reception is pretty common. I think it holds their attention for a little while. But it’s often hard for them to resist the freedom to run around and dancing on the dance floor.

A friend set up an activity table at her reception and it was a big hit, with some of the adults too lol! She had a large roll of paper on the table to draw on, crayons, stencils, stickers, and dollar store Styrofoam crafts to build.

I don’t mind if the kids run around and dance, I just want them to have something to do at the table when they are resting from dancing.
