Kickstarted engagements

Futuremrsm, on December 3, 2019 at 1:31 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 17
Anyone else feel like they were the ones to start engagements in their friend group? I got engaged in November last year. Since then 4 couples in our friend group have gotten engaged! While I'm happy for them I'm sad we aren't the center of attention anymore. I'm mostly kidding lol. Looking forward to all the 2020 weddings Smiley smile

I feel like I'm in the opposite boat as you lol. I'm the first one, but everyone I'm friends with is single and is like "omg I can't imagine getting married right now" Smiley xd

I figured since we are the young of the group (22 and 23) maybe everyone thought it was their time too? Our friends are closer to 30

We'll both be 22 for our wedding and all our friends are around our age. The only one dying to get engaged right now is my older sister who's 26, she's not exactly loving that I'm getting married before her lol.

Mine definitely was initially, but thankfully she's still happy for me and being very supportive as my MOH. Is your sister still angry about it when it's a year later?

I dont think shes angry, just jealous. She keeps telling me shes probably getting married before me. Meanwhile she just bought a house. I'd rather go to the courthouse and buy a house!! Lol

Same thing happened with me. We got engaged Christmas last year and since then 5 others have gotten engaged too. And one or two more most likely before the end of the year! **** is gonna be a busy year!

SAME omg, I wish our other friends were following our lead so we’d have more married friends to hang out with 😂

RIGHT? We basically have zero couple friends lol. We have hung out with one couple, but they have four kids so their schedule is rather busy Smiley xd

We had one wedding in May, one in August and one in September. Next year we have ours in April, and two that are two weeks apart in May (that FH is a groomsman in both), then we have one more in June!

We have 2 sets of married friends but they both live far so we never see them. Most of the friends we see on a regular basis aren’t even in relationships... which isn’t a bad thing, but like sometimes it’s nice to do stuff with other couples. When everyone else is single it’s like, either we have to do stuff separately or we go together as the only couple. My husband has this group of like 10 guy friends who are all so nice but they’re ALL single. So he’s constantly asking if I want to go places with them and I’m like... I don’t want to just be the wife that tags along when it’s all guys? But if even one of them had a girlfriend it would be less weird? Lol. Someday. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ditto! But not with friends, with family. We announced our engagement, and within two months my cousin got engaged. Then another cousin. And then another cousin. Then FH’s sister. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I felt the same way! My best friend got engaged 2 months after me, and my other best friend's bf is planning on proposing soon as well as my cousin. I'm happy for all of them as well, but even though we are getting married first in 2020 and all their weddings will be in 2021, it doesn't feel like it is about us. I thought you get married when you're ready and that there's no set age to get married at, but I have heard some say they want to be married by 25/26 etc. Oh well, I'm excited to be part of their weddings.
