Keeping your hair and make up artists for touch ups??

Nessa, on June 16, 2016 at 2:36 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25

One of the packages offered by the MUHA (make up/hair artist, idk if this is already an abbreviation) I am thinking of going with includes that she stay for the first two hours of the event time for hair and make up touch ups. So, she'll do my hair and make up and probably stay around for touch ups throughout the ceremony, cocktail hour, and right up until the reception starts. I hadn't even thought of this, it's the first time I see it offered.

So my question is, for those of you who have already had your wedding:

- Did you have your MUHA stay? If so, was it worth it?

- If you didn't have one stay, do you find it may have been helpful to have had one? Did you feel you could have benefitted from the touch up at some point?

I'm thinking it can't hurt, but at the same time I don't want to spend more money on than is necessary. Especially since the lower package already includes a bridal kit with essentials for touch ups if I need them.

Mine will stay (because she's a BM), but I kind of think it's unnecessary. Once you get into the groove of wedding stuff, I think you'll mostly just be excited to party with your husband. Not, go get touch ups and stuff...

I'm gonna have mine stay and after the ceremony do quick touch ups to my makeup for pics and then I'm gonna have her take my hair down after the ceremony because I'm doing half-up/half-down at reception

Mine stayed because they were invited to my wedding but I didn't need anything touched up except my lipstick.

My MOH has offered to come to HMUA trials to learn how to do my touch-ups. I am very appreciative that she offered this but wasn't considering anyone staying or retouching otherwise.

Mine both stayed, but they were invited to the wedding, so... yeah lol. I only needed lip touch ups.

My hair stylist is invited to the wedding. My MUA is someone I don't know but I am defiantly going to get ideas from her on how I can keep my face looking good into the early part of the reception.

I could have paid an hourly rate to have mine stay but I didn't and it was fine. My comb fell out of my hair while I was dancing, but I just stuck it back in. Other than that, I got to keep my lipstick so I was able to fix it myself.

Some people ask me to stay, most dont. Makeup shouldnt need much in the way of touchups short of lip product and maybe a little powder. All my bridal packages include a full size of their lip product and a pressed powder.

Mostly, its worthwhile if you want to switch up your look between ceremony and rehearsal - some people put their hair down, some want it put up, others want their makeup a bit more dramatic for the evening, etc. It does eat up a lot of time though. I dont think its worth the trouble, as a stylist/mua.

Mine didn't stay behind. In retrospect, it would have been nice for my hair stylist to stay behind because I got married on a beach and we had a cold front - complete with crazy wind - and my hair was a mess during the reception. But it didn't stop me from having a good time.

My MUA didn't stay, either, but I bought the lipstick she wanted to use so that I could touch up myself later if needed.

I don't think its necessary. My mua will be giving me a lipstick and gloss if i want to touch up. I'm sure my bm's will make sure my hair doesn't look crazy. lol.

Mine didn't stay. And honestly by dinner/reception time makeup touchups was the last thing on my mind. I was having so much fun and enjoying my day, I was not concerned about my hair or makeup. But either way it all stayed just fine!

Another financial factor would be that if they are staying until dinner, you will have to feed them dinner, too.

Sharon & Brad, good point. I'll have to clarify, although I don't think they will. I think they'll be leaving before the reception starts. Their package also includes snacks though, and I'll have some additional snacks for the ladies and them.

I have never stayed. Most MUA gives touch up lip products and or use waterproof makeup. You should be fine.

My hair dresser will be staying but it is because we are close friends and she will be there as a guest. I wouldn't ask her to do anything but I know she will offer through out the night. haha

Mine didn't stay and I didn't need them. I purposely chose a hairstyle that I wouldn't need to fuss with at all no matter what and it didn't move. My makeup stayed pretty flawless as well and all I did was reapply a bit of lipstick after the ceremony before we took pics...certainly didn't need anyone to do that for me, lol.

    @ Nessa... I LOVE IT!!!

I put my makeup on a 7am...dealt with unbearable heat in a car for 2 hours, cried a lot, was in the sun for 45 minutes, ate, cried some more and didn't look in the mirror until 12am. My face was still beat to the Gods...yes UD!
