Keeping the bridesmaids warm on a cold fall day

Emma, on October 15, 2018 at 10:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

Fall temps came with a crash bang!! Outside temps have quickly gone from 80 to 50s and an outdoor wedding is planned in 2 weeks. Bridesmaids are wearing typical halter gowns from Davids. How to keep them warm without putting on a coat.? Has anyone had to deal with this? How did you bridesmaids keep warm? I know everyone will shout ' pashmina! ,but will a typical viscous 10$ pashmina shawl keep a girl warm when it's 55 outside? I know they are available in cashmere and wool blends but I'm hoping to find something under $40 a girl. Thanks!!

You can find shawls on Etsy or Amazon for under $40.

I don’t know what style you are going for, but these look pretty cute, and the flannel is very “fall”.

Go to Joann’s! A few weeks ago they had nice pashminas that were thicker for around $20. Even the thin ones are nicer for blocking a bit of the breeze. How long will the girls be outside?

Hit up a Charmin Charlie’s if you have one in your area! There are pashminas in many colors if you decide you want them, but more importantly, TONS of adorable flannel blanket scarves like in the photos above—$20-30 each. (You might have trouble finding more than 3/4 of the same but they’re super cute and warm!)

We were just at Charming Charlie's tonight and I thought their pashminas were too thin. There's some nice wool ones I might get. Love the plaid idea but we're looking for a more elegant look.

I've found the seller of the tartan plaid scarves on Etsy, Where To Get. I love them and they are dirt cheap but there might not be enough time!! They need 7 business days before shipping and the wedding is on October 28.

Amazon sells them for less than $40/girl if you have prime it’s 2 day shipping if you don’t sign up for the 30 day free trail

2-way Stoles are great too! I dont know where you are but I have a nice warm one from Uniqlo. You can probably order online and they're only about $20.

They have many different colors and they stay on easier than square scarves/blanket scarves.

Do you have a backup plan in case it ends up even colder than that?

Would you be okay with the girls just bringing a nice jacket or coat to wear? Maybe a shawl of some kind from Walmart or Target or Kohls? Heat lamps or fire pits nearby maybe?

This happened when I was a bridesmaid for my MOH, and we just toughed it out. They thankfully had a short ceremony so it wasn't that awful, but also not great. I think the plaid blanket scarves are cute, and also everywhere so there's no shortage of color options. I would have loved to have one for that day, and I'll testify to something is better than nothing as far as the material quality. Good looking out for your girls!

How about matching or similar faux fur coats?
