Keep your receipts!!!

Beverly, on December 28, 2016 at 2:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to make sure all of your bride and grooms are really diligent about KEEPING EVERY RECEIPT YOU GET for your wedding! I just had to dispute a bill that was sent to us from our wedding venue, where the coordinator (who is no longer there) did not properly update our payment. Then, when I was able to prove to them that I paid the bill, the biller I spoke to took 3 tries to explain to me what the remainder was for. The bill was for $152 and I paid IN CASH $121 as a final payment when we upgraded our services. Thankfully, I had an email where the coordinator acknowledges that she received it in cash. The biller tried to then tell me the remaining $30 was for credit card transaction fees, but I then offered to send her a copy of the email proving we paid cash (not to mention that their cc fee is 6% not 20%!). Then she tried to push it off as a transaction fee in October, which I have another receipt for and said "Nope". Finally....TBC

She comes back with the right answer, that it was for some food my bridal party wanted the day of. I was fine to pay that (though no where in the bill does it say this is what it is for, and she didn't even know). I told her I would send her a check for the remaining $30 once she sent me a corrected bill, to which she was even hesitant to do that!!! I soon received it in my email, corrected, and I issued a check,

But what a way to put a black cloud over such a beautiful event!

I never felt so nickled and dimed in my life!!!

Good luck all! Hope this helps!

    That is crazy.

And try to get your transactions and negotiations in text. I text or email my vendors to make sure that I have a record of every single detail we discuss. I do very little phone time because people like to change their story

Ugh that sucks! Something similar happened to me with a $400 payment. I send an email after every payment and print my receipts by my wedding planner couldn't find it. I said I'd be happy to send the email and payment confirmation to make your job easier. She found it 5 mins later but still so frustrating!

And contracts! Always keep an updated copy handy. We've had a few brides and grooms on here that had issues with their vendors/venues that could have been easily resolved if they held onto their information.

I would make sure to leave a full review of the venue and include details like this. These are the kinds of things I look for when I'm reading reviews. If you had a great day, wonderful, but when someone tells both good and bad, honestly, it makes a much bigger impact when I'm reading the review.
