Keep the top tier for 1st anniversary?

Do people still keep the top tier to eat on 1st anniversary? I know this used to be the thing to do but thinking it may not be anymore. What are your thoughts?

Yes it is still a thang.
If you know how to wrap it, it is perfectly fine and moist, unless your cake was just dry to start. It’s not soggy. There is a specific way to wrap and freeze the cake.

No way! I don’t eat anything that’s been in the freezer for a year. 😂 So definitely not a year old cake 🍰

We saved ours. It's a struggle every day for me not to cut into it.

We had our top tier professionally wrapped by our baker and took the liberty to add an extra 8 layers of saran wrap ourselves...After 3 months, we took it out to eat because it was taking up too much freezer space and it was absolutely gross. When our 1st anniversary came around, we got a fresh anniversary cake from our original baker (he even did the same flavor, icing, etc. as our wedding cake). I'd recommend getting a fresh one from your baker when the time comes for your first anniversary. These cakes simply don't freeze well

We are gong to. My FH is adorably cute in wanting to keep all the "old" traditions. He won't even step foot in the spare bedroom, which has become our "wedding room" because he thought my dress was in there. Smiley laugh No first look photos either because he believes that we will be more genuine in the photos as husband and wife if we are actually really husband and wife.
