We are having karaoke at our wedding, and I'm struggling to come up with a list of must have songs for it, any suggestions?

Mary: me too!! I sing Adele and Nora sometimes too. Smiley laugh

I also do Jewel, Des'ree (Kissing you) the Pretenders "I'll Stand By You", "Zombie" by the Cranberries....and then duets with DH. lol

I'm actually attending my 3rd karaoke reception this month. We've hosted one of them, they're a blast! (if you love karaoke, which it sounds like OP's guests do.)

You guys are so helpful!! I love these songs and am making note to make sure the DJ has them or will get them!! @yasminadlv And @ Mary R. I'm so glad to hear others think it's a good idea! I've been in love with the idea since I got engaged a couple years ago and the guests that I've told are beyond excited about it. We are doing a mostly family and closest friends so a comfortable zone for it!

Its definitely something where you have to know your crowd. If your friends and family love karaoke, it will be a hit and go over really well! Sounds like you know your crowd, so you should be good.

Everyone was actually surprised that OUR wedding didn't have karaoke at the reception...but DH and I are both hosts, and super picky about our sound, and didn't want to hire anyone else. We had an "after party" the next day at DH's gig. lol

PLEASE don't do this. Drunken karaoke at a bar is fun, NO karaoke is fun at a wedding. People want to dance and have fun, not listen to someone attempt a song they have no business singing. I went to a wedding that had karaoke and most of the guests cleared out in under an hour.

You really need a kareoke DJ who has books and equipment for it to really go down well... just my two cents. In answer to the question though anything Shania Twain seems to go down at Kareoke.

I love Kareoke, but dont really see it as a wedding thing

I'm going to be a dissenter here, I've been to a Karaoke wedding and it was fun. It was though, a know your crowd thing, and everyone got up and sang. This was a primarily theatre and indie musician crowd. If you know everyone will like it, go for it. I agree with the suggestions posted.

Please don't do this! I went to a wedding and only 3-5 people did it. It was so sad and pathetic looking.

Kareoke are for bar mitzvahs/bars/kid birthdays parties

Yikes I'm not a fan of this idea but if you think your crowd will like it got for it.

That don't impress me much - Shania Twain

    My personal karaoke go-tos are:

    Get Out (Leave) - JoJo

    No Scrubs - TLC

    Ghetto Superstar - Pras

    Alone - Heart

How Can We Be Lovers - Michael Bolton

I Want You - Savage Garden

Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler

    Stay - Lisa Loeb

Loooove me some karaoke, almost as much as everyone else hates listening to me drunkenly sing it Smiley smile

ETA: FH's go-to is Torn by Natalie Imbruglia, it's amazing to witness

Most karaoke hosts can do regular dj stuff and karaoke. If must of your guests are into it I don't see a problem. We're not doing it for ours but I've been to some karaoke receptions that were a blast.

We had karaoke at our wedding (after initial dancing and such). We had karaoke request labels in with our invites. Guests could put in their request for something they'd like to sing in advance. They put the label on the back of their RSVP. We gave the list to our DJ/KJ and she had them ready to go. Every third or fourth song, she would pull a karaoke song that a guest had signed up for.

Our labels had lines marked with "K" for songs they want to request for karaoke, and "D" for songs they like to dance to.

It was a lot of fun and for those that rolled their eyes at it, they could dance when people weren't singing. There were actually quite a few people that danced to the karaoke songs and people that didn't send a song request ended up asking to sing anyway.

You know your crowd. Ours seemed to enjoy it. DH and I sang "Don't Go Breakin' my Heart" and "You're the One that I Want". It was fun.

    ETA: verb tense
