Some things just aren't meant to be, like the lighting of user straitsofdire's unity candle. After the couple failed to light it with their two individual candles and an awkward silence ensued (it was "somewhere between 10 seconds and eternity," straitsofdire writes), the priest moved the ceremony along and left the candle smoldering.
