Junior Bridesmaid or Flower Girl?

MrsRidley, on August 14, 2017 at 8:57 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 47

Is 12 too old to be a flower girl? I feel that she's too young to be a Junior Bridesmaid, but she's too old to be a flower girl. I was looking into this dress for the flower girls, but I feel like it's too childish for a 12 year old. The BMs are wearing the second dress in the comments, but I feel like that's too grown for her age.

@ellaenchanted, maybe that's what I'll do. Just a different dress. I asked her and she honestly doesn't care. She won't choose.

I feel like 12 is way too old for a flower girl. If it were me, I would put her a jr. Bm

I think it all depends on the girl. Our ring bearer is 6. We were going to ask my little sister who is 10 currently but will be 11 at the time. She is also very tall for her age, 5'1. It would just look totally awkward to have them walk together. She is mature for her age so she will be a junior bridesmaid with an age appropriate dress. It also works out good bc each of my bridesmaids will have different dresses to compliment their own body type!

Well, according to all of the news articles about flower girls, just about anyone can be a flower girl. You can have a flower grandma or a flower man.

I do agree that the bridesmaid dress is a bit grown for a twelve year old. Have her pick out her own dress whether she's in your party as a FG or a JR BM

FLOWER GIRLS HAVE NO AGE LIMITS! yes, all caps! Our grandmother's are flower girls. It peevs me to no end when people think they have age limits. I was one when I was 12, at my brothers wedding.

We have my 9yo as a jr bridesmaid. She is wearing a grey dress rather than the burgundy and blush the others are wearing. She chose that color, I didn't really care as long as it matched our colors.

My step daughters are 11 and 12 both Jr bridesmaids looked

beautiful with bridesmaids dresses. Lord knows they can't play or be babysat and too old for flower girls

My FG will be 8 and my JrBM 10 so I don't think 12 is too young to be a jr

I'm having my 12 yo be a junior BM but she's going to have a short dress, just more fun and age appropriate.

My cousin was 11 at my parents wedding and was a flower girl.

You can put her in a Jr BM dress and still call her a FG. Db and other stores have some age appropriate dresses for preteens.

This is good info, thanks! I was wondering about my God daughter who would be 12 by the wedding. Guess she is in!
