June or July Evening Wedding... in AZ

MelKel, on December 28, 2009 at 6:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

I'd love to hear from any brides that were married in Tucson in either June or July. I want an evening wedding with outdoor dining, but I have very limited dates at the venue I want. I'm living in Colorado now and don't know if it really is as hot as I remember it or if it's just in my head. I don't want my guests to be miserable. Help.

I recommend doing a google search on the average temps for Tucson during those time. That is what I did for my Vegas wedding. I wanted to make sure it was hot enough we could go swimming Smiley smile

    Good luck!

It's as hot as you remember it! In July the highs are usually in the hundreds and in the early evening it can still be in the 90's (but the sun wouldn't be beating down at least). Us Tucsonan's are used to the heat but if you decide to do it outdoors it will probably still be pretty warm and slightly unpleasant.

Konichiwa - I just saw that you are getting married at the Stillwell House. That is where I want to get married. How has everything been with them? I'm concidering getting married inside and having the dinner outside. What are you doing? I'm expecting about 75 guests, so at least it won't be crowded. I haven't met with the planner there in person, just talked onthe phone. She seems very nice.

The Stillwell house is great! I usually deal with Wilma and let me tell you! She knows her stuff! They do a lot of weddings so they really do have it down to a science and can let you know how things work.

For my wedding we are having the ceremony outside (I'm hoping it's not too cold!) and then cocktail hour will be in the cantina, dinner will be served in the main house and then the reception will be back in the cantina.

If you are worried about the heat, you could have the ceremony in the main house, have a cocktail hour in the cantina and while your guests are in the house they can turn over the main house for your dinner. Then reception back in the cantina. It's easier for them if you have the ceremony and dinner in separate areas because they don't have to turn over the room as quickly, but you could probably still do it that way.

I love Arizona I was there in July this year and it was HOT 100 . Could you have it inside with a view? I understand why you want to have it outside, it's so peaceful there. If the majority of the people are from there though they're probably use to it.

I'm facing the same dilemma! I'm in South Carolina so it's about 10 degrees cooler than Tucson, but that's still pretty hot! I'd love to have dinner outside because everyone could sit together, but I'm afraid my guests would be miserable!

If you do opt to have it outdoors, just make sure there is shade for your guests and plenty of cold water and cold drinks. Fans would be good for favors in an outdoor wedding

I had an outdoor 5:30pm July Wedding in Vegas and I'm not gonna lie, being the desert it was hot, BUT looking back no one remembers how hot it was and even on the day of no one was complaining. The weather was the last thing on our minds and everything turned out great. I wouldn't worry too much about it ;-)

I can only speak to my experience here in Utah, where it can get up to 105 or so in July. While outdoor weddings in May and September are lovely during the daylight hours, they can be chilly after sunset. On the other hand, July is quite warm during the daylight, but after the sun goes down it gets to be a more comfortable temperature. I personally like July events for this reason. About 7:30 pm the temperatures start to cool down, and then you can stay outside all night and not worry about getting cold. So if you choose a date in July I would just recommend starting later in the evening.

This is a great website to see what time the sun sets on any given day.

I'm getting married July 3rd in Tucson, at Tanque Verde Ranch. We are having an outdoor ceremony at 6:00 pm (the sunset is at 7:30) and plan on providing waterbottles for our guests. You can also turn your program into a fan Smiley smile I figure that it won't last that long, and if you're having the reception immediately following the ceremony, air conditioning and cold drinks are close at hand! Your guests will know that it is going to be hot, and hopefully dress appropriately!

@Elizabeth, I haven't booked my venue yet, but July 3rd is one of their available dates. I'm considering it, so I'm glad to see another bride in the area doing the same.
