My wedding date is supposed to be June 12, 2020. But I don’t know where things are standing ! We didn’t send out invites but everyone is asking what we’re gonna do. I cancelled my shower.
What’s everyone else doing?

Ok that’s probably our best bet. We were just gonna try to move it to fall. You don’t think things will be normalized

I just don’t like the fact that nobody really knows What’s going to happen and I don’t want to be wondering what if. Plus we are trying to buy a house right now and I’m still in school until next May so the timing is just better for us next summer. I also didn’t want to sacrifice moving it to a different season. I LOVE summer and can’t imagine my wedding any other way.

They are predicting the COVID-19 peak won’t even hit in Illinois until mid-May. Mayor Lightfoot just said she thought stay at home orders will be in effect in Illinois into June. There has also been a lot of rumble amongst Illinois officials about not allowing any sort of large gatherings until 2021. If you are even able to have your wedding in June, there’s a good chance it will have to be 10 people or less. At this point, you probably need to decide what kind of wedding is acceptable for you. If you don’t mind having an informal wedding for 10 people or less, then you could always keep your date and see what happens. Otherwise, unfortunately, your best bet will probably be to reschedule 😕 our wedding was scheduled for November, and we have already rescheduled to 2021

    Hi Sophia,

I'm sorry you have to think about postponing your wedding. It's a tough spot right now because there are so many unknowns. Plus, each city/state seems to be responding differently.

Have you contacted your venue? It could be comforting to discuss a plan B in the near future. I'm not familiar with what's happening specifically in IL; however, most places have enforced stay-at-home orders. Are there any group size restrictions in place where you are?

One thing is certain: You are not alone. Here are three other discussions with June brides:

If you decide to postpone, I'm hoping you can create a back-up wedding plan that you love! Smiley heart
