June 6th Brides

Elizabeth, on March 30, 2020 at 7:59 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 4
Any June 6th brides postponing their wedding? I am trying to wait it out but I don't want to be stressing the month before and not enjoy the wedding. Also a lot of my family is traveling from out of state.

I am a 6/6 bride and my fiancé and I are working through the postponing right now. We haven’t told all guests yet (will be sending out a Change The Date) but with everything changing so much every day we feel like we won’t enjoy the two months leading up to our special day if we are constantly worried about guests making it/cancelations. Most of my family would be flying in from Canada and at this point I don’t feel comfortable asking people to buy their tickets knowing everything. It’s heartbreaking for us though. We decided to still get married in front of immediate family on 6/6 and will be celebrating with everyone 9/12 as long as things are back to normal. Such a tough decision though.

My fiancé and I are supposed to be married on June 7th, and are waiting until May to make the final decision whether to postpone or not. Thankfully our venue and most of our vendors are really flexible, so we are working on a September back-up date just in case.

    Hi!

I am a June 6th bride. We have elected to cancel the wedding and ask for a full refund of our deposit. We plan to get married next year. Our governor has closed schools, malls, nonessential businesses and limited aggregated groups to 10 people or less. This situation is not going to abate any time soon. The number of cases continue to rise not decline. So we are still in the acceleration phase of this pandemic. In light of this, there is no way our venue can guarantee full use of their facility on June 6th. I hate to sound pessimistic and I am certainly not happy about having to start over but my fiance and I think it is for the best.

That's really a tough spot, Elizabeth. Are you starting to think about backup plans or would that just add to your stress? Would you consider doing a live stream online for any guests who can't attend in person in June? Or are you reviewing your contracts to see what your postponement options might be?
