Joint Bachelor/Bachelorette Parties

Have you been to one before? As a bridesmaid/groomsman would you be disappointed by it being jointed or just as excited? I think the guys and gals would do different things during the day but would meet up in the evening to go out together.

I would be disappointed. I have been to two and I had fun at both but not as much fun as when they have been separate. I just feel like my FH and I go out with my friends and their SOs or his friends and their significant others all the time. This is an opportunity to have time with just my friends minus their significant others.

I plan to do this, actually. Sort of. I asked my MOH to plan something outdoorsy when she asked for ideas and the boys wanted in on it too. So we're all going camping and hanging out at night, but we will do our own thing during the day/evening before bed. No further details right now as it's still a year away, but everyone is pretty stoked about it since we're all friends

I've been to a joint party. It was really fun. Some parts of it were together and other parts were separate.

My MOH was not keen on the idea of a joint party, but due to scheduling issues, ours will be on the same weekend at the same resort, however, we don't plan on doing things together except maybe having dinner or breakfast, if that.

    Defeats the purpose, IMO.

Not my cup of tea. I want time with my ladies only, party or not, and want my FH to enjoy time with just his boys and only see each other for the 1st time when walking down the alter

Not for me. I would go to one, but not a fan.

My FH and I will go to the beach together with our friends then split up and do our own things for a night or during the day at some point though we'll all probably end up at the same place. Neither of us care too much what we do and like to party together. Plus we share most our friends

My FSIL had one for her wedding. We rented a party bus and went to a Cubs game. It was a lot of fun, but didn't feel like a bachelor/bachelorette party. Depends what you're going for!

I went to a co-ed bachelor party a few years ago, it was an absolute blast. The bride didn't want a bachelorette party so she ended up never having one.

FH and I talked about this but the BM and MOH said we should do something separate and meet up at a bar or something later in the night but do different stuff away from each other during the day.

I think my FH and I are doing a joint one as well Smiley smile we plan on doing a battle of the sexes night, so playing a bunch of games, mainly because my BM's will not take losing very well. It should be a very competitive, but fun night together! I'm looking forward to it!

Nope. We used/are using our bachelor/ette parties to do something with our friends that our SO has no interest in doing. I arranged for he and his GM to go see his favorite band live (I cannot stand live music nor my SO's favorite band). My MoH and Bridesmaids are taking me to do the stuff FH is too chicken/not into doing when we go to NOLA.

We talked about doing this only because money is tight for our wedding party and to try to get a trip planned on top of an out of state wedding is a lot. We were thinking of doing something together like boating, then having guys and girls time separate that same evening.

I think this depends on your friend groups! If all your wedding party are friends or in the same friend group then I think this would work perfectly!!

I initially wanted that. My fh and I have SO much fun together! But now that I just went to a bachelorette party I def want it to be separate! I think you will too. I don't see anything wrong with maybe a future outing with the wedding party though

My FSIL and her husband did this and I was pretty disappointed. The whole thing ended up being a bit boring, but then again, they're both extremely reserved people and didn't want anything even mildly wild.

For ours, I've been playing around with the idea of doing a joint destination weekend trip for the whole wedding party. Day/Night One, the guys and gals would be separate, and then Day Two we could rent a house boat and go all together. Best of both worlds!

But it's pretty far out at this point, so it's all just fantasies for now!

We are doing one! We've been together since we were 12 and are each other's best friend. We would just have a better time drinking and dancing with each other than without. To each their own though!

We did this in Vegas for my sisters but opposite, hung out together at the pool during the day and separately at night. We had the best time ever!

You're going to be doing everything together for the rest of your lives. Just have your own bachelor/bachelorette parties. Make this one thing about just you.

My best friend had a joint party for hers, and although she seemed happy about it, I was disappointed it wasn't just us girls. It didn't really feel like a bachelorette party. It felt more like a couples/friends weekend. You do you, though. Good luck!

My MOH hosted a spa day for all the BM and my mom. A month before the wedding my MOH and DH BM hosted a coed bach bash at our new home with food, booze and games. We kept it low key. Originally we were going to skip because we had a DW in Shanghai and didn't want to add anything else to that, but they persisted. We had a great time. I would like to add most of our BP are/were in relationships, so this worked well for our group and not very expensive for them at all.

ETA: towards the end of the night, I opened up the gifts my girls got me and for us and DH and his GM/friends ended up playing poker.

I was once a the MOH in a wedding where the bride and groom wanted a joint weekend. The best man wasn't much help so planning went all on me and let me tell you the grooms friends were not on board. We did our own thing during the day and met up at night but it was an odd vibe the whole time since everyone didn't seem into it.
