Jewelers Mutual Insurance? Anyone use it?

I do! We insured my e-ring. Very highly recommended by our jeweler. It covers theft, loss, damage or mysterious disappearence. Not expensive either.

We figured it out - If I loose my ring he just has to buy me a bigger one :-P

If you schedule the item on your renters policy (meaning you list the item and its specific value on the policy) then your coverage should be extended to all forms of loss throughout the world. But thats something you need to discuss with your insurance agent because all companies are different.

HOWEVER, it may not be worth scheduling onto a homeowners or renters policy even if it is cheaper. Reason being that if you have to file a claim for loss, theft, etc of the ring it shows as a claim against your homeowners/renters insurance. That claim can lead to having surcharges against your policy or prevent you from being eligible for discounts or even insurance at some places. You should ask your agent what the repercussions of filing a claim against your policy are. Then decide where to insure your ring.

Also keep in mind that if your fiance purchased a warranty on the ring with the jeweler that warranty should cover loss of stones.

I added to my renter's insurance and the company also does my auto insurance (USAA a bank for military and government employees) ad they cover lost theft and damage. Just make sure you have it appraised and keep the papers with pictures in a lock box
